Thread: Huge lag spikes since 2.5

Heya.

So since 2.5 hit, I have been having MASSIVE ping spikes (As in 2k ping+, or just flat-out 90k disconnects). This has been extra obnoxious as I only just hit 50 right before 2.5 hit, and now I am unable to tank anything because I ping-out mid fights.

I've talked to my provider, I've monitored my connection, I've tested other games, and everything is completely fine, so whatever is going on is going down on FFXIV's end.

I'm not really sure how to go about figuring out what is to be done, so I'm making a post here

I am from Famfrit, and the lag is so annoying, especially in instances...

I've never experienced lag before 2.5 either.

I've been experiencing serious lag ever since the 2.5 Free Weekend.
The amount of lag spikes and 90k errors has been so much I had to stop raiding because my random D/Cs were holding back my static.

This problem has been mentioned many times now by the comunity and SE hasn't said a word, which is disappointing and even more so considering the recent emergency maintenance wasn't even related to any of these connection issues affecting the people paying for this service.

I'd like to add my voice to this group. I've only been experiencing these spikes in the last day, however.

Detailed explanation:
The lag appears to be clearly connection related, rather than a matter of internet or simple speed. The actions and spells happening in game will simply stop and then a second or two later "catch up" at a rapid pace. At this exact moment, my "received" column in the connection mouse-over will drop to 0, and then rush up to several thousand as the dungeon catches up with itself. This will happen through the instance at anything from 10 second intervals to up to 2 minutes, but it is consistent. This morning, I experienced it doing Ifrit as part of my duty daily. I reset my internet, assuming it was on my end. Everything outside of the dungeon was fine before entering the duty, and also after, though I chose to reset all the same. Everything I did from that point outside of the duty finder was also fine, including a single PvP daily I did through the duty finder. As soon as I went to do today's daily however (the dailies reset afternoon EU, keep in mind) the spikes were back and made the dungeon fairly difficult. As soon as I left the dungeon, everything was back to normal and lag free.

I am playing on Gilgamesh, but am connecting from the EU. I would very much like to try some level 50 dungeons, though simply cannot afford to have the game stop processing for a second or two in any of them. Hopefully this information will help you address the problem.

Few friends and I are having the exact same issue on Hyperion (We're all EU, however)
all using the same ISP (Virgin Media), all from different parts of the country.

Honestly, I remember this happening last month at some point to myself and a few other members.
Fortunately it only lasted for a few hours, this time seems a little different.
Was thinking about making a post on the VM forums, however it's usually a 3 day wait for a reply - with a classic "Have you tried turning it off and on?"

*Shrugs* Hopefully it sorts itself out before event time. - all my sadfaces.

Also on Virgin Media. Came here as it's nigh on impossible to do any dungeons atm (tanks like those speedruns).

I had not received any noticable lag spikes since 2.5. Until today/this evening. I got home from work to join a queue, admittedly small queue though (24). Jumped in my random trial for the day. The lag spikes made Shiva HM a bit more interesting.
