Thread: Animus - Omnilex Scroll - Confused

I have Googled like crazy and there is nothing on this, and no one else has this issue so I need to figure out what I am doing wrong.

I want GOOD stats on my weapon - not newbie stats. I dropepd 22 mil (which is pretty cheap, so I am not complaining there) on Grade IV materia of the stats I want on my Relic. However, the scroll will only let me meld Grade I materia. WTF is up with that?

The only lead I found on Google was a vague Reddit where someone said something about having to meld 4 grade I materia before you can do higher levels, so I did 1 DET, 1 Crit, 1 Piety and 1 Spell Speed. It still won;t let me do my Grade IVs. So I figured it had to be 4 of the same stats - tossed on 3 more Grade I Spell Speeds - still can't use the Grade IV spell Speed.

So what's up? What am I doing wrong? None of the tutorials say anything about having to do anything in a certain order. The game simply says, "Hey, dude, grab some Alex and grab the materia of your choice and go wild!" That's the extent of it. If we have minimum requirements or something for this, they need to state it more clearly in the instructions the NPCs give you.

OH! One additional question - I'm a SCH - so my most important stat is Mind. Any clue why we can;t upgrade Mind on this Scroll? You'd think our primary stat would be one we could upgrade. O.o

And yeah the grind isn;t so bad since we can spend seals to grab them. I got 10 so far with seals. About to go farm the rest but the daily hunts do help a LOT on that. And the occasional S rank REALLY helps (2 S ranks with full party = 1 Alex).

You can't upgrade primary stats - that would be pointless because your other gear does that already and it'll be on your finished novus anyways. As a SCH, you should try to max Crit (critting shields = awesome) and Det (higher heals).

You can mix in piety if you feel you need to (somewhat pointless unless you're doing content with long, healing intensive battles and your Aetherflow can't keep you up) or accuracy (if you're going to do coil...but I don't know if SCHs get the chance to dps in Coil so I don't know about that), but you'd get more out of maxing Crit and Det. It's your relic though. The only one that is a unanimous "don't put a single point in it" is spell speed, because spell/skill speed make such a small difference they're pointless. The only reason to ever put points in piety & accuracy, outside of the previously mentioned, is if you're poor and can't afford the higher grade materia yet - which obviously doesn't apply to you if you spent 22 mil on materia already.

Don't forget about the maps you can get side by side too by hunting. 4 S ranks/a couple hours of casual A hunting = 400 soldiery = 1 map = 1 alexandrite. Plus a free map every day for doing expert roulette!
