Retainer Ventures

I just stumbled upon the Retainer Venture article and got excited that you can send minions out to do gathering and such!

I have a few of these venture coins which I didn't know what they were for until now. So whats the best approach to take with this? They don't seem amazingly hard to get, but for a new player they are still hard to come by.

I read something about the retainers level being 5 levels lower if I didnt have a 50 in that class? So I am guessing wait till end game?

Any tips or insight?

Yes, you can dip your toes into the pond now but it mostly comes to its own when you're level 50. In your 40s you can start racking up venture coins from repeatable beasttribe quests.

So if I start now and want him to be a miner, but my mining is only say 15.. the retainer will only be level 10? But if I wait until my mining is 50.. he would be level 50?

If I start out now and start using coins I have.. would they technically be wasted because the retainers are low level and giving me crap?

As a new player, if you're mainly looking to level up your retainer, I would suggest using 18 hour ventures. These use up 2 ventures and give a fairly large amount of experience. Since ventures are harder for you to come by than it would be for someone who's more established, I find these are the best way to level up.

As you progress, more ways to get ventures will open up to you, and ones you already have will become much easier. Beastmen tribe quests (about level 41+)can reward up to 6 ventures daily. Leves can also reward them.

Personally, I find the easiest way to get them is by having a level 50 crafting class (and gathering helps a lot, too). For example, with the combination of ALC and BTN at level 50, I can get over 60 ventures every hour with about 30 minutes or so of work.

Nah, they bring back ok things as they level. They bring back varying degrees of stuff from fish to fish to fish and more fish. Just kidding. Some times these bring back an ink and quill.

As for getting ventures, they're pretty easy to come by after a bit. You can buy 5 at gc for i think 1000 seals, and levequests have em as rewards for certain quests. Treasure maps too can have a dozen or two of them in it.

How does the Venture leveling thing work and that comment about waiting till 50?

I dont under stand. DO all ventures start out at lvl 1 or if your 50 in that something different happens?
I guess what is the benefit of waiting until I am 50 to start using ventures?

Your retainers start out at level 1. Their maximum level is 5 less than your level in that class, except if you're level 50, their max level is 50.

I would not recommend waiting if you want to level them up. I recommend 18h ventures so you can get the most exp per venture. Just make sure you keep your class leveled ahead of them and you'll always be leveling them as long as they're out on ventures. Do the highest 18 hour venture available to them.

Also, you will have to gear them up to gain access to higher ventures, but it isn't a very high requirement.

If your retainer catches up to you in level then just hold off using a venture for a bit. You should be good though at just sending em on 18 hours ventures once a day. The first few levels they'll get quick, but just like normal leveling, it slows down a bit as they get higher.

The retainers gain xp from doing ventures and will level up to 5 levels below whatever level the class you have assigned them. For instance my miner is currently level 34 I made one of my retainers a miner so their max level for now is 29. I am not sure about what happens when your class is 50 though

since most of what I said has already been stated ( didn't refresh the page) I will also mention that if you make a retainer a gatherer they can only gather something that you have gathered at least once

oh! Thanks for the clarification!

So they won't go past your actual level hence why they recommend being lvl 50!

Should I do like a mining retainer and then a glad/pal retainer as that is what I am leveling to 50 first?
