Fixed it for you. Deleting a character is one thing, renaming it is another.

That said, this won't happen for a long time FFXIV: ARR is only about 1.33 years old, allows for long, complex names, and uses a system that promotes the use of a single character rather than 10 alts. Thus, it won't be a necessity for a few years at least.
