So why even blacklist them then?If your list is full I guarantee you can delete the first 190 right now and you won't hear from a single one of them. The spam accounts are only used for a few days before they are baned or abandoned. Your list is full of people that don't exist anymore. Flush it out. I have at most 5 people on mine right now because I go through every few weeks and flush out the list. No ill effects at all. Been doing this for over a year now.
I had to do this recently as i hit the limit on my blist, now i only have 2 or 3 on the list...every time i think of adding a spammer to my list i think back to that day and the chore i went through deleting names one by one, and cactuar has gotten pretty bad lately as i have my alt there...as im sure other servers too have spammer issues just the same, i just go to tonberry when it gets really bad for a little peace and quiet. ~__~
Do PPL rly get spam tells? I mean they send me tells but its not non stop or anything.
SE honestly needs to just unlazy and add a better filter like they did in FFXI. Which is sad this doesnt already exist considering they already have dealt with it before.
WoW has done this for years aswell, been playing WoW off and on and not once in the past year have ive seen or gotten a tell from a RMTI played EVE online for a few years. One of the best features for dealing with RMT:
Right click, report RMT. Removes all messages of that player from your chat log and you don't see any more messages from them, but the block is separate from the blacklist so it doesn't fill that up either.
Can we get something like this in XIV?
I guess each person has their definition of spam tells, one person might consider it spam if they get 5 tells of the same thing from the same person in the span of 5 mins, and then there is someone spamming those same 5 tells continuously non stop.
I don't understand why se can't do the report rmt right click in this game since in ffxi also a se game has it. I wonder why they haven't implemented this in this game.
I haven't gotten any spam tells recently that I can remember. But I tried to track down one of the spammers once. They were in the instanced starting zone. If SE hasn't done so yet, I think they should put a heavy /tell restriction while in those starting zones. Like the moment you send a tell to more then 2 or 3 people it should lockout tells for X amount of time, with X amount of time being greater then 10 minutes. When I say 2 or 3 people, I don't mean 2 or 3 tells, it would allow you to talk with a person or two, but if you try to spam while in that zone. I typically found that I would keep getting tells from the same person until I black listed them.
Nocturne of the Gods
Kiu mondo estis nomita Vana'diel. Nia mondo, Vana'diel.
I won't be surprised if someone eventually gets frustrated enough to make a third-party tool that black-holes all tells that don't originate from a whitelist of names.
