Is the tank terrible? Then you tank next time. But if you're too lazy to tank, then at least be a team player and help out if you realize the tank is bad.

More tanks could be better at holding aggro, but guess what ... they're not. Work with what you get. Or keep telling tanks to "get good or go home" and then try to puzzle out why the queue is so long for dps.
The game is old enough to accept the competitive spirit in PVE and it took months for some players to master they roles for a lot of different duties, you just can't come and ask them to nerf their capacities in order to "carry" someone in lv 50 contents.

Not everyone is partisan of the "let's jump into the mediocrity boat" and silently accept the punishment of playing with headless chickens, if the situation is really hopeless there is no reason to accept it... The kick button exist for a reason.

    Also... :

It summarize well this discuss . Being nice and helpful is an exceptional feeling but keep in mind that the limit between "being nice" with people and "being used/abused" by other people is very slight. Beware to not cross the line.

Both tank classes have tools to pull a lot of hate very fast. If they're not using these tools, the group is dead.
There is ONE exception, and if there's a huge disparity in gear. A fresh 50 tank is never going to pull hate for longer than a few seconds off an FCOB black mage, for example. Unless they're in an iLevel sync'd dungeon, of course.

It's sunny; a beautiful day in [insert the city where you live]. You step inside your old Corolla with your son to give him his first driving lesson. You can tell he's excited. As you reach over your shoulder to pull the belt across your chest, you say to him; "The first thing to you want to do.." But before you can finish your sentence, the engine starts, the car lurches forward and in to the garage door.

Yes. I can ask DPS to nerf themselves. At least untill I've established some solid hate with mobs.

If a NIN goes "balls deep" on something I've only flashed once (and am not chaining), obviously he feels confident enough to tank that mob, and heal himslef.*

*If its a FC mate I might ac/ "cover" them.

Most everyone is in a hurry these days, always late for something. Aint got no time to follow silly numbers. Anyways, I don't even bother marking and no one really says anything about it. If people want to run ahead, go ahead they may just die and get angry. Hardly anyone sets any game plan or whats expected at the start of dungeons. Even if you do most of the time there is no response.

I think for the most part most people will just watch what you pull first, then go down the line from there. If its a stronger monster or has an AOE I'll hit it first. I'm always cycling through the list anyways to keep the healers aggro down. Haven't really had any complaints so it seems most people are ok with it.

Honestly don't remember the last time I marked anything. DPS hitting something with a "1" over its head doesn't magically increase damage dealt and in ex roulette dungeons the pulls are usually large enough that things just get aoe'd until they die if the group composition allows for it.

Last time someone did this to me when I tanked... after they pulled twice before me, I stood there and wait for them to die........ I already am still learning to keep aggro, if now you just go and attack before i can throw my shield to try and get aggro, you know what? I won't try to get it back y.y/

when I dd, i always try to get the mob that tank is hitting, am not always successful IF there are no numbers, if there are numbers, I follow it.

Anyway this is the reason I prefer tanking with my fc, so premade party but sometimes happens that I do tank with randoms; now that i'm more comfortable doing it.

In low level dungeons where keeping aggro is harder due to lack of abilities or I'm leveling and someone is level synced, yes, I mark. If someone keeps pulling hate due to not paying attention, I will attempt to pull back a mob a couple times and will let them keep it after that.

In max level dungeons, I don't mark. DPS gonna aoe anyways. At this point, a tank should be able to keep group hate.

Other than that, if you don't want to put up with annoying random players in the DF, go with friends. :/
Also, you're preaching to the choir. The folks that take the time to actually read the game forums are usually the ones smart enough to know how dungeons work. ><

I do that in low level dungeons if I feel im a bit undergeared for the dungeon. And if they dont follow my numbers I'll just let them tank it.
In higher level dungeons I know people assume a big pull, so I just grab a lot and spam flash until my eyes bleed. Usually never lose any aggro that way so marking isnt neccessary in higher level dungeons imo.

But if they run a head to pull they can tank it, sillyfaces!

I think it's important to be nice. Always. I know that's cliche, but there are so many reasons that someone could not be performing as well. I'm not calling out the OP (or anybody), but I think it's an important thing to note in these threads. Keep your complaints to yourself or LS/FC/TS/Vent, etc... I can't stand rude players, who aren't willing to help new players learn, especially in Duty Finder. This is the Duty Finder; not the Ritz Carlton.
