For dps jobs it doesn't feel very interesting. As a bard there's no reason to do anything bit dex. Str for mnk etc. But that's only because only 1 stat has any real meaning while mages (whm in particular) and tanks have significant returns on 2 stats. Str and vit, or mnd and piety. For those jobs there is fairly frequent swaps. There are always situational things like vit spec for pushing content in lieu of or in addition to melded accs or pvp. And of course there's the odd ball blm point or 2 in piety to get an extra fire.

I change my stats on war at least once a week to maintain specific hp thresholds as I aquire more gear shift back to str. My raid healers have also changed from vit to mnd/piety a few times.

How bout instead of trying to destroy what little options we have in this game, make the choice more robust. Further restricting points as char wide or whatever just funnels us down even further. Instead look for ways to make other stats more useful to dps jobs so there is more incentive to do something besides str, dex, int for your main stat. Much like tanks have good reason to care about vit and str, so we frequently adjust them as a strategic choice for a given activity and our current gear etc. Make me have a reason to put something besides dex on my nin and bard so I have a choice. Don't just remove my choice and waive the 'specialization' flag.

If you deleted every point of dex, piety, int, mind off mnk, no one would give a crap. Str and vit are the only tats with ANY value to mnk. That's dumb. Make other stats have some purpose then I might at least give a thought to how to spend points. But SE makes everything toddler proof so we get obscenely simple stats. With zero complexity comes zero nuance. Zero nuance means zero options. We need more nuance for this stat system to matter for more jobs.
