Yes, as a lot of people pointed out in the Balmung Housing Issue thread, people who aren't paying for their subscription shouldn't have claim over a limited content such as housing. They've "worked hard" to get the house, yes, but the same goes for all those who have farmed the money and are now sitting on it waiting for plots to open, while wards become ghost towns.

Maybe a form of refund is due, but wards should definitely get a reset feature after 1-2 months of not being used. And I'm sorry for those players who quit every other month because they "run out of content" and wait for a new patch to return and still want their house to be there, but it doesn't matter how hard you worked for it: if you don't use it, you don't need it.

And I say this as a house owner myself. I'd totally understand if my plot were reseted if my FC and I didn't use it every month like we do. Much like how they implemented an AFK-player-kick feature back when congestion was an issue, there is now a congestion of empty houses, and I feel they should be "kicked".

I would disagree that wards are ghost towns. People don't tend to hang out at a house unless it's a very active FC. In regards to people unable to buy a home... life isn't fair sometimes. Maybe they should have started playing sooner or done more to accumulate the money faster as the person before him did in order to buy early. Leave Gil buyers out of this (we'll never fix this...) but for the legit players, you might as well delete their in game character too as it's taking up storage space.

If GTA V and other similar games can maintain your data for years then FFXIV can too. I don't know much about the framework of SE's servers but if it were at all possible they should close down the weaker, quieter servers and reallocate those resources to the larger more active ones. Just to say, what problems persist on Balmung should not equate to new rules being subjected to other servers, dont like the housing situation, server change option is there. No mmo has made this drastic change before other then open up server transfers for free just because 1 or an extreme few servers have this level of problem.
