IMHO, taking away someone's plot of land that has no house on it isn't a whole lot better than taking away a plot of land with a house on it, as the plot itself is very expensive.

I would be okay with something like this only if a player that got "evicted" due to inactivity was given some sort of voucher(s) so when/if they returned they could re-obtain what they had lost. Housing is very pricey, and I don't think anyone should lose that much gil just because they hasn't played for awhile.

Otherwise, it is kind of like saying that only people who will never take an extended break from the game should be able to have a house, y'know?

The reason I differentiate between the two is because one could argue a house stands as a permanent vanity feature. After all, you don't need to be active to show off your beautifully designed (or not) house. What does an empty plot do for you? You can't even place a stable or gardens on it.

And frankly, because the plot is more expensive, if you can afford the land, you can afford to build the house.

That's exactly how it should be imo. If you're willing to not sub and play for 3+ months at a time, why should you be entitled to keep something that someone who DOES pay and play could use daily? With how limited (and yes, housing is still extremely limited) it is, it should absolutely be buyer beware. I can agree though to he voucher idea, at least for a one time thing "You lost your house due to inactivity, here's a voucher to claim a plot of equal or lesser size that's unused. If you get your property reclaimed again within the year, you will not receive another voucher though" That way, even if it's set to reclaim every 6 months, that'd be a huge chance to come and play and keep your land.
