Its not relevant that the mount is a "necessity" or not.

If its important to a specific player for any reason...that's reason enough to have a concern.

Too much is based on rng, not just mounts. It is an ancient way of thinking that imo needs to be revamped for a more tasteful design.

I tend to agree with op about rng in general

I think some people want to emphasize more on the "rare item" part. Items that are extremely rare, add value to the game. Of course people will try and push their luck and mindlessly farm the corresponding content.

In a way it's a reflection of today's society. Everything you can get your hands on, which often is an item of status created in their mind, is a must have.

When you decide you must have a pony, you also need to realize why they put it in. It was meant to be rare, not to be farm friendly.
