there should be a stance option where your pet just like stays directly next to you and follows your movement completely and in tandem
placing them to dodge things is cumbersome and ifrit is a dumbass and doesnt care about place

I use the filters to heal other peoples pets, (L1 + X) it targets only pets/minions then switch back to others. I know how fustrating it is if your pet keeps dying.
I also always stoneskin them.

Healers should not need heal pets at all. It is SMN own fault if pet die(outside pvp).

I half agree with you on this. Healers shouldn't need to heal our pets, but in some fights it's just out of our control. Like AniCelestine said debuffs do a real number on your pet, and you can't remove it. The only thing you can do is sustain your pet and pray that the debuff doesn't kill them. I wish that the Dev team cross class stoneskin to Smn, or at the less make it so that sustain could also remove debuffs as well.
Sorry to be the harsh one, but your pet shouldn't be taken damage other than AOE ( even then that is seriously reduced)
-Make sure you pet (unless using titan to tank something) is behind the boss to avoid cleaves etc.
-Keep pet in range for AOE heals
Do this and you shouldnt have a problem.
In fights like shiva, if the bow is killing your pet, when you see her perform the BOW animation, use steady and heel, It will follow you out of harms way.
Ramuh : make sure it isnt in the lighting/water
Other than that I cant think of any reason your pet would take more damage then you can handle.

I think in fight like shiva pet die because ppl do not know how 2 dodge aoe rings and collect stacks until pet die.
