Seen a bunch of poshacking BLM bots on Tonberry yesterday zipping around 24,21 in Central Thanalan and 27,17 in Western. Couldn't even catch their names to report since they were underground and untargetable but they did keep killing mobs I needed for hunting log. Kinda weird the engine is engineered to even allow position hacking to slip like that but eh. Annoying.

Targeting the mob will allow you to see the name of the player attacking it. That is how i get names for my reports. Takes a while though but eventually you will get all the names of that group (each different monster they attack will target the first one that hits it, and the bots are not smart enough yet to time their attacks precisely).

Honestly how to catch blm bots =
Have a gm watch the u'ldah main plaza aeteryte on off times ( most come out when server is asleep lol i think )
Monitor the blm job quest npc guy at the burning wall ( the cave where u mine for gold ore )
Those r like the 2 areas i see bots afking or pos hacking. All the other ones r partied up and have busy status on and r killing plamoids at mor ( fog fens where the hill and the crystal tree is at )
I get a little sad cuz they stole my spirit bonding location a few times >_>
( 4 bots with 4 chocos out ) all of them chain casting blizzard and fire.
Then when they r done they just vanish lol ! Poof

ive been seeing them doing quest in forgotten spring, all lvl 50 lalafells thaumaturge (no other class or jobs unlocked) and all geared about the same

Make level progression stop at 30 and do not go ahead if you still in base class, and the problem will be eased a lot.

Even more insane suggestion: you cannot level up until you do your class/job quest. You cannot level more than 5 levels of your incomplete Main Scenario quest.

Goodbye automated bots! They will be kicked out the dungeons they need to progress, and 90% of them will stay in Sastasha forever.

In game Conversation with a Bot Owner

After reporting a bot in Grid, I sent a /tell to a nearby real player to let him know that
I had reported the nearby gathering bot. I learned that this real player is a bot owner.

I omitted the other player's character name and substituted "Bot Owner."

Conversation went somewhat like this:

Bot Owner: You need to realize that reporting a bot will get you 3 day suspension for harassment.
Me: The bot was moving with the afk flag displayed,
Bot Owner: That's the only exception.
Bot Owner: What if I told you how you can gather 1800 shards per hour?
Me: I'm not interested.
Bot Owner: How much Gil do you have?
Me: You don't need to know
Bot Owner: What if I told you, you could earn over X million gil per week?
Me: My gil currency remains legitimate.
Bot Owner: What if I told you the names of players in your FC who operate bots?
Bot Owner: What if I told you I have bots running right now?

I declined his friend req.
I fail to understand why "reporting a bot" would be "harassment."

OP if you don't take the time to report them then what do you expect SE to do? How can a GM sit and watch every single player on a world at one time? OP you are a part of the problem for saying that you are not going to report them. How can they get banned if you don't tell SE about them?

if only people stop buying from then, I hate it, they even send friend request now, there's not enough time in the game to report the long blacklist and pull monsters to the gathering bots, anyway sometimes is a fun thing to do.

Perhaps rather than going after ever single bot until the end of time, they should instead focus on plugging the exploitable code that allows bots to do all the amazing tricks they can do.

I would still love to know how so many of them manage to get onto the full, locked servers so very often and in such huge numbers. Just as I would love to know how RMT knew how to send my character a tell within one second of its creation (if that).

Oh that's easy, Player Search. The tool that allows people to find you and send you tells/friend requests no matter where you are in relation to them.
Does anyone actually use the Player Search for legitimate reasons anymore? Why does it even exist?
