Can anyone reccomend a good controller for FFXIV

I am playing on PC currently using the Xbox 360 controller with wireless adaptor. I like the layout of the controller but the only issue I have with it is that the dpad isn't very good. Often when I am trying to use my abilities I have set to the dpad they don't go off or need to be pressed very hard.

Anyone have a recommendation on something that might be better? Or at least have a better dpad so abilities work when you press it.

This is what I use and I love it! It may be wired but I prefer the stability.

You sure its not just the specific controller you have has a faulty dpad? Im using a rock candy 360 wired controller and it works just fine for me. It's not an official xbox controller, but it's actually pretty good quality and fairly cheap, plus I like the colours.

I used logitech and PS controllers for a long time, but after trying the 360 controller for ffxiv i can't go back to to the PS model, you can use your right hand to operate the d-pad because of its proximity to the buttons, so you can always keep the left one on the stick for movement, but it all depends on what's comfortable to you, you should hold it at least before buying it.

There's a 360 model with a more comfortable D-pad, idr the model name tho, you can change it to use the whole wheel or just the classic arrows.

Personally I recommend a PS4 controller, it's lightweight and the triggers are awesome for this game. You can use it either via usb cable or via bluetooth if your computer has it. To get it working all you need to do is install xbox 360 drivers and then use a program called DS3.

I got big hands so the PS4 controller feels small and I always did think the layout of thumbsticks on the xbox controllers was annoying. Its really all personal preference though so go with whats comfortable for you!

Are you using the old original style 360 controller or the one with the transforming dpad? I use the transforming dpad and I've never had any input problems. I recommend checking that out if you're addicted to using the 360 controller like me. If you are already using that one, then like someone else said, maybe it's just gone bad.

The Razer Sabertooth is pretty nifty. It is shaped like a Xbox 360 controller, has a really nice soft grip coating on it and some extra toggles and bumper buttons that you can map to do the actions of other buttons, for example you are using the A, Y, O face buttons plus their trigger/bumper combinations for your action bars. Those could be programmed to the toggle buttons on the bottom so you could activate your abilities without ever having to take your thumbs off the analog sticks.

edit: forgot to mention the controller requires no software as everything is handled on its internal hardware. It is also compatible with at least the Xbox 360 and probably the xbox1 as well.

Google transforming dpad. It will change your 360 controller life!
