I was just going off the terrible google translate of this famitsu article where at the very bottom it says;

Given that the 2.55 patch is the setup for the expansion, and that this particular patch isn't going to be very big, it does not make much sense for too much time to pass between 2.55 and 3.0. That patch is supposed to have the end of the 2.0 story arc as well as the lead up to the expansion with the teased dragon fight on the bridge.

Also add to that fact is that typically May and June are usually considered to be summer months.

The final content patch of the game before the expansion is already being stretched thin. I'm not too sure that stretching it out for another couple of months the logical thing to do.
