why do i keep seeing people saying "hyper notorious monster" in the 8+ years of playing ff11 they where always HNM/"hard notorious monsters" but what ever lol least i get to laught at it. And btw i claimed numerous HNMs/Kings w/o ever botting on a nearly daily basis using bst pets or stun lol.

server dependent i guess. though i always was aware of both names.

it was also possible to claim on ranger with shadowbind a full 5 yalms ahead of any voker/charmer/dia/stun

Ya im just dumbfounded how people think anyone that claimed botted in ff11 when in truth if a group showed up and payed attention to time they had a fair chance of claiming. Im not the smartest/best player yet i claimed more HQ kings than i could count in my time. Some of them w/ holy and dia then took a dirtnap on whm lol. The entire botting argument for HNMs in ff11 was void as most that complained about it where people that never even camped HNM or wanted something for nothing and didnt want to invest the time and work into it.

This exactly. I never had a problem claiming and i played on a high pop server, Odin. Bots were out there eventually but if you actually paid attention you could beat anyone there including bots, just takes a little effort and paying attention. I would love to see HNM's added to the game, not only was it exciting to claim the mob in front of over 100 people but it was even more exciting to kill it in front of them all. Then there is always that chance of something going wrong and maybe your LS will come in to clean up what another LS could not finish.

I really just enjoyed the competition, in the end the rewards never mattered for me, HNM's are why i played ffxi for so long. I guess i am one of the few that actually enjoyed it. I was there to kill the big baddie and have some fun doing it. However i do agree 3hr+ windows are a bit much. The problem isn't a 24hr spawn time, its the sitting in one spot staring at the wall for 3hrs. I think if you just shorten the windows many people wouldn't consider it so much as "Time wasted". Just my thoughts.

SE! Please KEEP HNM in game (and add plenty more!).

The issue isn't roaming HNM. The current system they are using in XIV works fine (maybe a little too fine, since you can practically gear urself from head to toe in 2 hrs from NM drops currently). The issue with XI's HNM were those dang windows... some were just ridiculous.. I remember spending 21 hrs in front of my tv camping Tia, it finally popping around 4:30am, only to lose claim to another LS, then me having to be at work 2.5 hrs later. Iirc, Tia's window was a full 24hrs or close to it right?! Like cmon SE, let's not do that ever again.

I personally didn't have much problem with the smaller windows (~3hrs) because as was said earlier in the thread, it's not really a big deal if you had ToD (which you should have if ur in a HNMLS). A 3hr window usualy takes maybe ~30mins tops of ur actual attention, as you'd only really need to be paying attention for about 2-5mins every 30 mins until it pops. I think they could keep windows like that, but prolly nothing any longer. If ppl cant idle around for 3 hrs while they perhaps take care of other things around the house, watch tv, do whatever.. then just don't go for that HNM.

The other issue was of course the boting. Yeah, that was bad. But eventually there came to light the perfect solution! If you can't beat em, join em! I remember NA ls's where they required you to have a claim bot out. Meh, SE wouldn't do anything about it, and we wanted our fair shot at a claim, so it worked out. Even with bots, you'd still only get claims at most 50% of the time, it was like random luck who's bot claimed first. I myself was on 360, so I couldn't use annnnnything (console users had such a handicap in that game, but thats a whole nother issue..). I'd like to play XIV on console but idk yet. I'm hoping that claim bots won't even be an issue in XIV, seeing that SE should realize that mistake from XI.

I agree with what you have said for the most part having claimed Kings on Dial up PS2 myself before I upgraded... but when there are certain linkshells that claim more than others, and there are just far too many for me to count over the 6 years on Valefor, I think it was pretty clear they were botting atleast half the time. Although half the battle was getting people to commit to the camping of the of the HNM. Personally I liked how Sandworm and Dark Ixion worked if there were to be any kind of HNM system at all.
