    Double/Triple Synthesis

    Double and triple synths

    There is a growing desire that 1-star recipes be granted the ability to quick synth, which I have mixed feelings about. I would like to propose something that could be a better alternative if the dev team does not wish to allow quick synthesis of 1-star recipes.

    What I would like to see implemented, is the ability to unlock a double or triple synthesis on 1-star recipes. By double/triple synth, what I mean is something like a shiny new button above the "synthesize" button for a recipe, that will allow the recipe to be doubled or tripled. All necessary materials will also be doubled/tripled, so the real saving is in the time it takes to synthesize.

    In case there is concern that this would be too advantageous, let me make the case that the dev team could employ many different tools to balance or limit the benefits. One such tool, is a CD timer. Doubling or tripling a recipe could be allowed, say, every 30 or 60 seconds, or really whatever kind of recast the dev team likes, giving it a lot of flexibility as far as how to balance and adjust the boosted synthesis so that it does not become overpowered and hurt the economy. Having said that, I think there is something else I would rather see instead of a recast timer.

    What I would like to see happen to double/triple synths of 1-star recipes, is customization of WHICH recipes you may personally double/triple, through ability points. This would work similar to pvp abilities--you could not dominate all recipes at a given time, but could make selections that would help you focus in a specific area. This system would be fun and interesting to me, and would allow the dev team a great deal of control over doubling/tripling. For example, your ability points might only allow you to choose 3 or 4 recipes that you may double, and....maybe 1 recipe that you may triple? These numbers could, of course, be watched and adjusted. Those recipes could also operate on a weekly or 24- hr reset timer, so you cannot reset your points every couple minutes to double any recipe.

    Points could also be controlled through gear, buffs, GC seal purchases, or other currency/tomes/quests (please not beast tribe dailies >.<). This sort of system would help a player find a couple (but not too many) areas of opportunity, where they are setup to have a _slight_ advantage on a 1-star synth for a given period of time.

    I would be interested to hear from players who currently do 1-star synths as a main income strategy. All comments are obviously welcome, but I imagine the dev team would especially appreciate feedback from 1-star synthers on this. Would it hurt your gilmaking? Would it help? As a 4-star crafter who is often reluctant to spend much time doing 1-star synths, I can see this helping me, but possibly hurting 1-star synthers if it means I am less likely to spend gil at the market board on 1-stars, and more likely to do the 1-star synths myself. On the flipside, though, it really could benefit 1-star crafters. I really don\\\\'t know.

    In any case, if the idea is intriguing, and you would like to see the devs explore double or triple synthesis, please voice your support!

    The issue of quick synth for 1 star and up has been noticed by the devs, no concrete response yet that I've seen yet.

    The synths aren't an income source for me directly, but I have done thousands of them. I'm stockpiling the NQs of the 5 main 1-star mats in anticipation of level 50+ leves and GC turn-ins in the expansion, and spiritbonding DoL/DoH materia in the process. Last I checked the profit margin on NQ isn't worth the time it takes to craft them by itself, but that's been a while.

    Thanks for the info. I was posting from my phone during break at work....and man that char cap is annoying when you are trying to cut/paste on a phone

    Yeah, from an opportunity cost standpoint, 1-stars are currently a downer for high-level crafters, hence the need for double or triple synthesis, or unlocking quick synths on them. 1-stars may still be an important bridge though for undergeared crafters who are playing the catch-up game, idk.

    That's actually a great idea. Maybe make it available once you complete your first Master II book or lucis tool or something.

    You have no idea how many RG nuggets and militia bracelets I made for lucis-related items.
