They really should have mentioned the actual server maintenance that they did, if only to prevent threads like this one from being made. No need to go into full detail about it; it would have been enough to just say "did X and Y stuff for better Duty Finder stability" or whatever.
I mean, when you do a 3 hour "emergency" maintenance and only bother telling people "we made some event gear dyeable" it should be pretty obvious that some people are gonna feel like they're getting played around.
Well, I think that patch note most likely got in by coincidence, just because it was easily done before the maint. The real updates are either hardware side or security side that they'd prefer not mentioning, since you don't need an "emergency", off-scheduled maintenance just to make some items dye-able.
maybe they should write down their entire daily work schedule for you, so you know what's going on.I understand what you mean to say, but SE could have specified something like that in the hotfix information. Just call it what it is then. But don't just make something dyeable and take 3 hours to do it. SE has been very good about being transparent about what they plan to do. I wish that transparency would also be reflected during maintenance. As a paying customer, I deserve to know the real reason why my service is being interrupted and when it will be restored. Just like any other service provider does for its customers.
get into the technicalities about how server maintenance, works.
would that be sufficiently transparent?
It was a maintenance...they did what they do every maint, and then they *fixed* those gear, during maint.
maint takes 3hrs, making gear dyable, doesn't.
What issue? It's working exactly as the patch notes said it would. Though I wouldn't mind a toggle to change where it defaults.
I don't think complaints really need to be made about maintenances in FFXIV. At least it's not something they do every week like some games do.
I think the laughable thing about this is that people are actual in an uproar about this. Reddit is too.
It's three fucking hours. Get over yourselves and bloody do something else.
The self entitlement of some people, gods.
it's interesting that you assume they didn't do anything about these things, before the maint is even over, or shortly after.I'm a little shocked and in awe of this. I was expecting maybe some server-side fixes to help ease the DF and instance server congestion and lag issues we've seen recently... I was not expecting some items that came out last year to become dyeable.
This is not what I would call an EMERGENCY, so unless something else was fixed that is of importance, I feel this kind of thing can wait for the next patch.
but you might as well expect them to ninja patch expansion. unless they get new servers, nothing gonna change; if a lot of ppl do stuff, there will be congestion...they cant do much about it, except lower the amount of ppl that can be logged in at any time.
or they should just re-introduce the afk-kick, meaning that ppl that are afk for 10min, get logged off. cause balmung is just a heap of afk ppl, which makes it impossible for new ppl to even make a char on the server; i have 2 friends that started playing, and had to wait at least a week, to be able to start a char.
What would be a great feature that'd be well worth a 3-hour downtime is a way to bulk-prune old blacklist entries, so we can block more RMT spam.
My blacklist is full and the only way to clear it is to manually delete each and every entry one at a time. Alternately, more/better server-side filtering of RMT spam messages would be great too.
First world problems, they can be devastating. Imagine I woke up this morning and I forgot to set the coffee pot to brew before I awoke. Imagine the chaos that is happening here now, I may need to call in the National Guard to restore order.
3-hour maintenance? I didn't notice. I was sleeping![]()
