    No love for V-day.

No, this isn't another thread about the lack of reward items - let's just put that aside for now.

This is another thread (though I have not yet seen one in regards to this specific event) about how one year later the V-day event is once again exclusively about about boy/girl couples. Yeah, I hate to be "that guy", but sorry, it just leaves me with a bad feeling. Again. Being single, I already feel quite detached from this "holiday", but this just takes it even further. Last year, it seemed a rather large group of people felt left out or even offended, yes, myself included. But there was nothing to be done, except hope. Hope that next year it would be better. And now here we are, a year later, and it's the same thing all over again. We're sent around the three city states, playing Cupid for three couples. I don't know why there was no place for at least one same-sex couple in there - could have easily been one m/f, one m/m, one f/f. But no, all three are girl and boy. And then a fourth one again with the "outro" quest/scene.

I think it's just unfortunate, after last year. And even more so with the fact that in the meantime we've gotten the Ceremony of Eternal Bonding, a "marriage system", which has no restriction whatsoever on either gender or race. Please be more mindful with such things, SE.

My first thought was this has something to do with WWII. But then I read the rest of the thread. xD

I have not done the event yet, but if you are saying is true, then I hope SE adds a same sex couple in next years event. Atleast we know ingame that there are same sex couples.

Ahh I wouldn't worry too much about it. In game its just something to do. IRL its just another holiday marketing scam for retailers to make money.

In the end, players last year were asked to trade chocolates with opposite gender PCs. I don't necessarily think that's an offensive concept. They said this year they weren't going to do that (make you trade with opposite gender characters). But we know that SE isn't against LGBT characters in the game. We had an openly gay couple crop up in the Wanderer's Palace HM questline, we had the Rising Vendor from last year who talked about her wife, and there have been others as well.

I do think it would have been nice for them to represent a same-sex couple in the event, but its obvious that they're not against same-sex relationships in game.

Agree with you. While obviously a missed opportunity, I don't see it as something that was done to exclude anyone. They're clearly cool with same sex couples and that's quite an improvement over where they stood this time last year.

A lot of people seem to be way too easily offended these days.

Are you really offended by the fact that they didn't put same-sex couples in the only 3 couples of the quest just to fill some sort of "representation quota"?

There was no Miquo'te couple in this quest. Do all Miquo'te players should be offended by that?

Yes, it's a missed opportunity. But nothing more than that. Stop being offended by everything.

I haven’t participated in this years Valentione’s Day yet, but Valentione’s Day isn’t just about bearing witness to the adoration and affection of others from all corners of Eorzea.

Snippet from last years Valentione’s Day:
And so it is with open arms and high hopes that we welcome the lady Lisette de Valentione, direct descendant of the Countess Arabelle, that her presence might serve to kindle flames of romance across the land, warming the hearts of all those who yearn for the sweet embrace of their one true love.
Valentione’s Day is also about appreciating the presence of the people around you. Spending time with friends or even people you haven’t seen before. Showing that they as well as you yourself care about their presence and gestures. It doesn’t have directly relate to “Love”.

It’s what you make of it yourself that really counts.
