    Ninja's Fuma Shuriken/Huton

After playing ninja for a while I really don't like having fuma shuriken and huton as part of the ninjutsu cast arsenal. I really would like to use fuma shuriken but there's no point in using this because raiton completely replaces it unless you need to attack from a further distance. I would like to see this as a separate CD so that it can be used more often, and it has a great animation too. As for huton it just gets annoying having to cast it as a pesky upkeep buff. Why not just make it part of the viper/wasp buff? What do you guys think?

I don't play ninja so I can't really comment on the annoyance factor, but don't up-keeps serve as a way to gate your damage output a bit? At least the rest of the kit is designed around those up-keeps. If you remove them you'd have to remove damage elsewhere (considering Ninja damage was just nerfed they certainly wouldn't do it without some kind of tradeoff).

Need to have Huton in the rotation due to balance purposes. Having to blow your Ninjutsu cooldown on upkeeping a buff that wears off after a minute removes a Raiton cast from the lineup. This is a balance issue and should not be changed. As for Fuma Shuriken, I'm not a huge fan of the fact that it basically becomes obsolete as soon as you get a second Mudra, but again, having a cooldown that you can pop every so often for free damage would be a balance issue. Now, if they put a minimum range on it it would boost the ranged DPS a Ninja is capable of, which would improve its usefulness. Though as I understand it Ninja is currently one of the top DPS leaders, so there's really no need for this, either. :P

Huton serves as your 'heavy thrust' and 'twin snakes' buff like the other melee DPS have to keep up to optimize their DPS. You already get a huge flat damage boost with 1 click. I think adding attack speed to it is just twisting the knife a bit too hard.

I think it would be interesting if each mudra had a cooldown rather than ninjutsu itself, so you have to decide if you want to use 3 single mudra abilities or 1 with all three during the cooldown period, but otherwise I don't think ninja needs buffing.

If it's a balance issue, I would rather have other skills be lowered in potency. I just get irritated by having to stop my bombardment of attacks in order to keep up a buff. Casting mudras should be for attacks only imo. Not to mention that mudra lag doesn't exactly contribute =/ Also twin snakes and heavy thrust are followed up by attacks. If Huton was an attack that would be interesting...

If you're irritated by something like that, then maybe ninja isn't the dps class for you to play. They're designed with using mudras and ninjitsu to maximize their damage output. Something like lowering potency would just throw everything out of proportion; ninjas would do less dps than DRG or MNK

Which would defeat the point of mudras and the oh-so-fantastic bunny.

You still autoattack while casting any ninjutsu

Is taking a couple seconds to put up a buff really that big of a deal? NIN is already a very strong dps, they don't need any more buffs right now.

I'd prefer it if Fuma Shuriken was kept in the Mudra selection, almost always use it instead of Raiton due to ping issues. I do dislike keeping up Huton, but if it's for balance purposes than it should stay (even though it takes me awhile to cast, have to take it slow unless I want one of my signs to not register).

The advantage to Fuma is, with high enough ss (or high enough lag which is common), using Raiton can delay your GCD attack. Also, Fuma is 100% physical while Raiton is 100% magical. Theoretically, there are times when this is useful (though in practice, it rarely matters). Also, since Fuma gets the 20% buff from poison and Raiton doesn't, the difference is a bit less than it seems. Also, isn't the damage from Fuma slashing? That would mean it would get the 10% buff from Dancing Edge too. So, Fuma is 240 potency, and Raiton is 360. 240*(1+0.2+0.1) = 312.

Also, does Raiton use your weapon's physical attack or magical attack? Ninja weapons' magic attack is about 70% of their physical attack. I'll have to see what the true damage difference is between the two with buffs up... (I don't normally play NIN)

But yeah, it's like they provided a physical and a magical ranged attack with similar potencies and the same range. It'd be nice if there were more differences than that, like one having much more range than the other or (more interestingly) Fuma having greater potency on further targets such that it was better than Raiton at max range. That would be pretty cool, in my opinion.
