I ordered a PS4 from Amazon and it's looking like it should be here by Friday evening. I plan on taking advantage of the free upgrade. But I'm curious what the differences are performance wise.

Framerates.
How are the load times?
As a person who passed from ps3 to ps4 - believe me the loading times are awesome, you won't know what hit you at how fast are they in comparison of the ps3I was in awe for the first month XD

Load times are much, much better. The game is hardly playable on ps3.
The load times are fast. Mor Dhona load times on PS3 took anywhere from 10-15 seconds at best when I played on it during the game's early days, whereas after switching to PS4, the load times decreased to a manageable 3-5 seconds. Load times in smaller, less populated areas are nearly instant.
You can see large groups of people on PS4 compared to on PS3 where, in order to see everyone, the system needed to buffer and load everything. Even after that, it probably still won't load everything in the immediate area and you will notice it if you move around a bit. I can't imagine the "fun" of having to do hunts on PS3.
Overall, the PS4 version is just superior in every way. Even without a side-by-side comparison, you will notice the differences very quickly if you are coming straight off the PS3.

You can at least attempt hunts
Also putting in a hybrid drive(ssd cache+spinning rust) can help a lot as well(first thing I did when I got my ps4 really) unless you have the funds to get a big ssd drive as well.
