I came up with this idea after realizing one thing: on my datacenter (Chaos) PVP is practically DEAD.
By dead I mean that queues have become simply ridiculous for both the Wolves' Den and Frontlines, just last night I waited for more than 120 minutes at peak hour (around 9 PM) but nothing ever popped... I tried to enter with a full party too, but even then we couldn't get in within an hour and everyone just gave up.
I have 2 characters on different factions but queue times are about the same (pretty much infinite), so the only reason for this must be that no one is playing PVP anymore.
When I asked my FC mates and other friends about it, they told me that, while they enjoy PVP most of the times (especially Frontlines), they gave up on it because the queue times are absurd and because... they find it "useless".
I think this is the whole point of the question: as of now the only rewards we get from PVP are a few tomestones, Exp points for upgrading PVP skills and seals for buying gear (its only real use outside of PVP is for glamour and in order to use the ilv100 gear you have to get to rank 40 first anyway, which requires a ridiculous amount of time); 2 out of these 3 rewards are related to PVP only and are therefore considered not worthy of any time by most people.
One of the easiest things that would make people play PVP again would be making it give PVE rewards too, in this case Allied Seals: right now Hunts are probably the most played endgame content since they give huge rewards for very little effort (pretty much the wet dream of every casual player), so what about trying to simultaneously give balance to two contents that need it?
Let's say that we'd get 10 seals for each Wolves' Den match and 30 seals for every Frontline match: in this way Hunts would become less saturated with players and more enjoyable while at the same time more and more people would play and enjoy PVP without feeling like they're wasting their time, since they'd also get those sweet PVE rewards (oils and sands of time, alexandrites, GC gear, etc...).
Of course the goal of my suggestion isn't to get rid of Hunts or to make gathering seals any easier, but it's to balance the game and give it more options (10-30 seals as rewards are IMHO what would be balanced now, but depending on the new PVP queue times they could be less or more); it's a very easy fix to implement and there shouldn't even be any issues lore-wise since Allied Seals are related to your GC anyway.
EDIT: [ Deelo's suggestion of giving allied seals based on the result of the match would actually make it better, although I'd prefer less of a difference between first and last place as I don't want everyone to just join the GC that wins more often (maybe 20-15-10 seals for Frontlines and 10-5 for Wolves' Den? But I guess it's something that should really be evaluated and decided by SE).]
I know that SE has always been a bit shy about PVP and wanted to make it an extra feature completly separated from the rest of the game, but right now people are having a hard time to find any reason to play PVP and it's such a shame for a content that had so much development put into it and still does (I for once find PVP very enjoyable too, maybe even more than most of the PVE endgame content I'm left with doing).
There are new PVP contents coming in the next patches and I can't really say how things are gonna change, but I think it's time to reduce this sharp separation between PVP and PVE content and be a bit bolder about it, so please take this petition into consideration!
