I think people aren't grasping the full scope of 72 Slaughter, honestly.
The Alpha (a) bots on the 3 exterior Bases are worth 15 Points Each Plus a Team Wide damage buff. Technically, you could abandon mid entirely after the first add (y) and rack up 45 kills worth of points by taking all 3 of the side objectives. iirc the center one is worth about 30 plus a hp/mp buff, so you actually make out better overall prioritizing the side objectives and attempting to take 2.
The problem is co-coordinating your team to do this and the center winds up being a clustered mess of feeding kills to CC/Cometeror combos.
It's actually that lack of cohesive teamwork that makes 24 man slaughter feel so much better as it's there is a lot easier time working with 7 others, than 23 others to work together.
Slaughter is objective based. It's just that players do not value the objectives as much as they should. It's a new mode though so it might catch after people become more accustomed to it.
I think they should get rid of the second hp/mp node in center forcing people to take side nodes and not camp mid. That is part of the problem. Or open the game with three side nodes and one center forcing a split from the start. Make mid worth the exact same as side nodes. OR keep it how it is but reduce the points of the hp/mp node.
All the modes have their problems but I enjoy Slaughter since I feel more like an actual healer instead of a tank in that mode. It's also simplified enough for DF so it doesn't confuse the DPS, basically go here and kill stuff. I've experienced a lot more close games then I've ever had with Secure.
I like this idea. Though I think a second wave of exterior nodes will also help.
I like the concept of rhythmically congregating in center to push for a large objective and then spreading out for the smaller ones. I do agree that the players are too focused Mid during the entirety of the match, even though that is not the best tactic, and more emphasis on the side objectives will be a way SE can assist in that.
But in the meanwhile, spreading the word on the best tactics for 72 Person slaughter is really the best thing we as players can do in the meanwhile. It really needs to be emphasized that you're working as 3 teams of 8, not a 24 person Zerg.
Because Square has shown little concern for the cares of pvpers? I dont have a problem with Slaughter, I do have a problem with Square treating us like second class citizens next to pve.
