You definitely learn really quickly as you level up each one which materials are hard or easy to obtain.

I've been using Gamer's Escape (http://ffxiv.gamerescape.com/wiki/) to find where I can locate creafting items. It helps immensly, especially on materials that come from the beast tribes.

Edit: There's also the mobile app FFXIV Libra. Though I haven't really tested it to see how thorough the information on there is.

I'm really starting to see as you level up crafts how much running around, switching classes, and managing your inventory becomes a real challenge. And the gathering classes...grind fest. I guess I can just buy all the materials from the MB instead of constantly switching classes and making them, but it seems the prices are a bit high.

I've directed a few people to this site http://www.gameskinny.com/27qul/just...pcoming-listed it lists all leves names, items required and the materials to make them. Typically you want to do the most XP per leve, however sometimes this works out very expensive/time consuming so it can be worth while taking a leve that offers slightly less XP. This will also allow you to properly plan which items you are making, thus saving a lot of inventory space. Culinary is a horrible class to level in terms of inventory space, my advice is to get all classes to 15, then take Culinary to 37 (for Steady Hand 2), then level the rest 1 at a time from 15-50. Weaver, Alchemy and Carpentry all have the most useful level 50 skills for making items HQ at lower levels. GSM/LTW/ARM/CUL/BSM all have level 50 skills that you wont need until you hit 1*+ level crafts.

Just google "job of crafter" leveling guide, it will tell you everything you need to level each crafter, I level all 8 crafter at once, I would grind single stack-able items for 2 levels then use leve quest to finish another 3 levels, then switch job, rinse and repeat.
this way you only need to keep one set of gear for all jobs and whenever any gear reaches 100% SB, you just convert it and make new ones to replace it. and DO not sell any of the materias, you will need them for overmelding you end game gears.
