I like this solution. It would also make glamouring more practical while leveling up a class. Right now, because of how quickly you level and spiritbond at low levels, you can grind through three different outfits in a matter of hours. Not a lot of incentive to glamour a piece of gear you're only going to wear an hour or so! If you could glamour the slot, though, and have that glamour apply over any piece of gear you wear in that slot, you could change equipment freely and still maintain the same look.Right now, glamour is bound to the item. They should change the glamour to be bound to the SLOT based on your current class.
You'd do cast glamour on your body slot while on WVR, and you'd glamour the WVR body. Then you'd switch to GSM, glamour that body slot to GSM body (if you please), etc. You'd still have the artisan's apron equipped on all those jobs, but the glamour would be based on the slot and job combo.
This could be the solution to the multiple slot equipment problem, as well. If you glamour Odin's armor, for instance, that would cover up all four slots and override WHATEVER gear you put into those slots.

The only trouble I see with making a slot glamour-able as opposed to applying it to an item, is RP and the with the RP community (or say uniformed screenshots). With applying it to a slot, you wouldn't really be able to change clothes quickly for little this and thats around town.
Edit: But that's a fairly minor issue obviously :P, I still <3 the idea immensly.
I think they should remove glamour restrictions for crafting classes entirely. If you can equip it normally, you should be able to glamour it to your crafting class. I doubt any "new player" would be that "confused" by how the crafters are dressed, much less pay attention to them.
Of course, I'm sure many, if not all can agree that the current glamour system needs a major overhaul.

I really like the suggestion of class specific slot glamouring. Makes the most sense. I wouldn't necessarily think that glamouring say a caster coat to be feasible but the fact that I can't even use crafting clothes on a crafter, regardless of class, seems silly.
I also went back and looked... my character is glamoured with the Valentione outfit and starlight boots. The tops and bottoms are dyed metallic green and the hands use the king glamour to remove gloves. Best I can do for now anyways.
Seems like a simple patch fix but nothing will change if a Dev doesn't see this thread. Guess we'll have to wait.
