Hard Mode (Suggestion)

For those who might want a challenging fight. A suggest this:

Party leader Challenge

What is this challenge? It is a challenge where the party leader becomes sort of an instanced-like object:

*Stay within range of the leader or you fail the instance.
*If party leader is KO'ed, everyone else is KO'ed

Pros- You definitely see who can pay attention, and follow orders well.
Con- You definitely see who can pay attention, and follow orders well, some can't.

This is could be used in both Open world, and instanced world.

By activating the challenge and to make it even more challenging, the party leader, when placed in combat, will always have an enmity meter in the yellow and will increase at a normal pass as if attacking, even if no engaged.

Reward- None. Just for fun. Don't have to do it if you don't want to.

No one will do it because it has no reward, maybe the first or second time.
Maybe there are few that wants to do it, but have fun trying to find another seven members that will do it as well.

yeah no reward = no point to me...is why most the threads with options for both don't work for me. but the idea sounds fun, i like it, kinda like kill the man with the ball. exept just the leader, though i would go and say they can go with random changes for this in party where it keeps changing for long battles. can be entertaining to say the least.

Half serious, half fun. I thought of it when I was talking how lame it was that if the leader dies in FFXIII it's game over.

If there were a reward it'd have to be doubled exp or something. It's can't be an item. Cause what keeps a party from going into a low level instance and get a bonus item for using that strategy, when the leader is hardly in any danger.

Even if it had a reward, meh.

Sounds like a terrible idea/thing to be totally honest.

I don't like speed runs much either, I'd rather if the dungeons just had an extra hard version with different loots. Like, instead of making so people run past the few mobs they didn't on a non speed run, why not replace the mobs with things that spam sleep/gravity/bind/etc and run extra fast, while not losing agro if you get too far away. Then for bosses, have them summon more mobs, hard mobs, and more often. And do w/e else to make it harder on top of it.

And there ya' go, it'd be a hard mode that isn't some corny protect the flag carrier kinda thing. Because let's face it.. As a dungeon objective, that sounds terrible. A real hard mode would be like having every person be that 'party leader', because if anyone of them strayed or died, you'd probably all wipe anyway. :P

I'd say an improved drop rate would be a good addition to hard mode.
Sort of like Guild Wars, where if you finished a dungeon you typically had one or two items drop from the chest (depended on dungeon) at the end, but if you did it on hard mode you'd have double the items drop.
But also have the increased drop rate applied to mobs you fight as well.
Also while in hard mode the level of everything you fight would be increased.
That would be a good incentive imo, though I'm not entirely sure if it would fit to FFXIV.
