If we could only look at each other as human beings instead of as straight people, gay people, white people, black people, men, women... I think we'd all get along pretty well and enjoy the game.

These insecurity issues... good luck with that you guys.
The asexual/aromatic sits in the corner, quietly.
Stopping there because a brief glance at your post history from after my initial read of your OP showed you really have no grounds to try and condescend to others about their opinions because yours have been just as ugly in some cases. You just don't get it. Let's say, I wrote a story, but a small portion of the population wants me to change what race/gender/sexuality of the protagonist of my story. Should I be forced to change my creation just because someone else wants to? Absolutely not, because then you're taking away from me in a rude attempt to make yourself feel good. People need to stop acting like spoiled brats and go write their own stories. The roleplaying community seems enjoys making up their own stories all the time on Balmung. It really is quite extraordinary how so many of you come here only to diss, to complain about stupidity, to make fun of, to personally insult; obviously not liking the subject, some not even involved in the matter - and yet, in all your hostility/ignorance/displeasure--
This, what you think you're doing, isn't, "progressive." Being, "progressive," in our world today does not fit the definition because people try to force progression by taking away from other people instead of standing on their own and rising to the standards. FFXIV has already taken several steps of acceptance, one of them a very big step (Eternal Bond), but here you are still being unappreciative of those steps; showing that you will never be satisfied.

SE caters to a world wide audience. When I read "They should just make up their mind about which audience they want to cater to" I get the gist of an all-or-nothing ultimatum for this game company to make everyone or no one happy, which I think is unreasonable. I don't see the people who wear burkas, are transgender, or polygamists represented either. Should they also be upset because they cannot identify with a character in this game throughout all the different areas in the game and in game events? In your opinion it doesn't work but I've seen great strides on their behalf in other areas of the game to make it work.Yes, there are cultural differences. In real life. However, this is a fantasy world, so why transfer those in there? Also, if it's such an issue, then SE should just make up their mind about which audience they want to cater to (the Japanese or the Western), and stick with it. Because, obviously, wanting to cater to both doesn't work
I don't see a problem with living a little through the game. There's a lot of Rp-ing and whatnot going on and that's cool if that's the reason you really play. However, to try and forcibly have the devs cater to your beck and call on the type of audience they market this game to, well, as a lot of people have already said, its SE's vision they are trying to sell, not yours, or mine for that matter.

Enforcing your beliefs onto others is a political agenda. Homosexuality IS a political agenda because, I dont know where you live, but many countries of the world outright shun and/or are struggling to incorporate gay marraige and relationships into society. Homosexuality has, and likely always will be, a social issue.
For TC to seriously walk in here and complain that a video game doesn't fit into his personal beliefs is outrageous.

While I had a few issues with the couples shown as part of the quests, if you talk to the Valentione Retainer near Lisette and ask about her he says something along the lines of "Women want to be her. Men want to be with her. And many the other way around."
Yes, I realize it requires reading text that isn't even directly part of the quest chain and will therefore be missed by 99.9% of players, but it is there.
Look, the premise of this thread is dumb. But the idea that homosexuality by itself is a political agenda is ridiculous. Most of us are just trying to exist. This person doesn't speak for all of us just like you don't speak for all straight people, etc.Enforcing your beliefs onto others is a political agenda.
