    Issues making Gil in game

I am relatively new to the game, only 1 class to level 50 (Bard) and I am finding it very difficult to make any money in the game at all.

It seems that crafting is the only way to make money in the game and that's not something I'm particularly good at or really interested in tbh.

In other MMO's I have played there has always been some daily quests you can pick up to kill some level 50 enemies for about 8-9k per mission that are their so people like me can make money. Slower than crafting and selling but still make money to progess.

Does this exist in the game and I have just missed it? FATEs don't give you any notable amount of Gil at all and you only have a certain amount of leves you can do before you allowance runs out.

I have also noticed people selling Gil for real world money, this is frowned upon in ALOT of other MMO's just I'm starting to feel like it might be the only way to actually make money without diving into the very complex world of crafting

Crafting really is the be all and end all. Unless you're a tank in which case Roulettes can bring a little gil as well, but there is really no comparison.

also burning all you soldery tomes on crafting mats and selling them can net you some gil. Same with higher end gathering if you have the patience for that endless grind. As before though, If you want a decent amount of gil: Craft.

    Enjoy this Green Gil guide:
    http://www.reddit.com/r/ffxiv/commen...een_gil_guide/

You can make about 1 mil per month with all of that. And yes you can get some decent gil from dungeons and roulettes(even without in need bonuses). You can farm mats from world mobs and sell those on the marketboard through your retainers. Gathering is nice as well though not amazing but you can get some steady income going on.

Level a gathering class to 50, with all the mats gathered you're sure to make a good sum of gil.

You can make gil even not as crafter/gatherer. Crating/gathering only sometimes help you get gil faster. You may:
    - farm dungeon for mats that sell well (there are some pretty rare mats that can sell for mil but i think they require quite of luck)
    - spiritbonding and sell materias (you can get hundred thousand gil per day, or even million gil depends what kind of materia you get)
    - challenge log
    - GC leves (get GC seals -> buy GC mats -> sell)

Just take ur time leveling gathering as when 3.0 hits its gonna nerf the old stuff for crafting so ppl that r new can catch up without spending millions of gil. Also wait for golden saucer as i'm 90% sure you can win prizes etc that can be sold on the MB for some decent gil for the first few weeks of release.
Maybe some alternatives to hugh end crafting mats or some new goodies that can only be obtained originally thru winning it in GS.

Cuz if u wanna get anywhere in crafting ur either going to have to fork over a lot of gil or a lot of time, or for most ppl. Both with a little hint of painful progression blocking rng that will explode ur melds and synth just cuz it feels like it.

I've found that the best thing is to sell Shards/Crystals/Clusters; to do that efficiently you need miner and botanist to 30; then whichever you want of those to 50, or both. Leveling up a crafting class, and desinthisys would also be smart as demi materia sells well on most markets and its level is dependent as far as I'm aware of your crafting skill for that class.

Just know desynth will be expensive for a shot of 1 mat type and whatever shards/ crystals used to make item but, u can get 1-3 of those things back and mat can be hq if our lucky. Desynth works good once u get going but u will need to get that craft to 50 and spend some time lvling desynth.

So I noticed a few people mentioned spending Soldiery and Seals on mats and selling them. Can anyone give some examples of a few of the better mats to go for in this case that seem to bring in the most profit? Just curious because I have plenty of Seals and Soldiery that are burning holes in my pockets haha

Depends on the server. Those Soldiery mats are now worth next to nothing on highly populated ones.
