It is weird to hear a lot about how this game is succesful and about it's nice comeback and then hear from developers atleast twice a month about server load/ capacity problems.

According to the minion/ mount websites, SE has sold loads of Sleipnirs, minions and I believe platinum eternal bondings too, got about 500K subscribers but.....

... we can't have more housing wards (when on every bigger server it was impossible to get small house after a few hours), more inventory space, customizable NPCs in housing (while retainers in housing aren't problem) and lots of other stuff.

Yup, I get that lots of income from this game go back to SE so they can put it into their other games which won't even make as much as FFXIV. But what SE needs to realize is that without investing more $$ to the game they won't make more out of it.

It's not about about poor ISP's. It's about laws of physics. The greater the distance the greater the latency. It's unacceptable for all Europe to play on a server which is located on another continent. We play with an average of 200ms without to count in the lag spikes, the bad days when we play with 300ms and all other sort of things. I pay for this game and I demand a server in my area. It's that simple period.

don't want to kidnap this thread, so this is the last time i post about this, being in Spain, i have a 130-160ms ping to NA servers (located in Canada lol), thanks to windows double check, which you can turn off, even with a shorter ping most people will play with a 200ms ping, because most of them won't take the risk of turning it off, if your ping is higher, it could be caused by being reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeally far from the serves, like Eastern Europe, or a low quality ISP, which will cause lags no matter where the serves are located, unless they go regional like some MMOs make.

In short words, the EU servers will only make a difference for people from Easter Europe (a minority) and a lot of people who use low quality ISPs for one reason or another. I don't think that money have been invested correctly, or at least not fairly for those who won't enjoy it's benefits.

Judging from your own experience and only is not the correct thing. Apparently the vast majority of EU players (and EU is not only Spain and UK) have problems and they demand a server in central Europe or such. That's the reason SE forced to promise they will make one here and they announced so during the Fan Fest. Let's not complicate it more with technical details and such. Let's head back to the topic because we derailed it a bit.
Back to our topic I don't think SE will give us a 3rd retainer for free. I think we have enough space with the exception of people gathering gear sets and loads of materials. Those people have troubles and to be honest they will run into inventory problems even if SE gives us a 3rd retainer.

    I'll say it:

Paid retainers are a P2W aspect. No matter how big or small. When you can have ventures twice as many times by paying, no matter how small the fee or the reward, it's P2W and it needs to go, it doesn't belong in a P2P game.

4 Retainers max, 2 default, 2 paid with GIL, not irl currency. That's how I would see it perfectly set up. Maybe 1m gil for 3rd retainer, 10m gil for the 4th retainer.

I just hate having my inventories always full with stuff and the possibility that people are spamming ventures twice as many times as me just because I don't wanna spend 4 euros more. It's not even about the money, it's about the principle.

Except you can't have ventures twice as many times by paying. You have to have the venture tokens to pay the retainer, all having the optional retainers does is allow you to burn through your venture tokens twice as fast until you run out. Some people try to say that you can earn ventures from all sorts of things, OK, you can get 6 from your daily beast tribe things, that's not even an hour of time for 4 retainers, since you need 8 venture tokens for 4 quick ventures. If you spend 3 hours playing and want to send 4 retainers out on quick ventures every hour, that's going to cost you 24 venture tokens. You'll spend your playing time earning ventures to pay your retainers with.

There is this fallacy that the additional retainers magically generate extra things or gil, the truth is, at most, they temporarily increase the rate you can do certain things at, until you run out of ventures to pay with, or items to sell. The thing is, you have to have the ventures to pay the retainers with, and you have to already have the things to sell. Once those resources run out you're back to square one whether you have 2, 3 or 4 retainers.

My connection from Portugal doesn't cause me problems either, but this logic is pretty faulty. An EU datacenter, at the very least, won't make things worse for me, yet has the potential to make things better, if ever so slightly.

It's true that the majority of players (NA and JP) won't have a benefit from a new EU datacenter. But the same logic applies for the other two datacenters yet we have those. EU is certainly the smaller playerbase of the three, but it's apprently big enough for SE to give us a datacenter.

    That is horse.

Your ping, unless you live in SEA (or eastern end of Russia) is not much worse, (and often better in some EU countries) then the West coast of America.

I live in SEA and play on an NA server. My ping is not much over 280ms on a bad day, and I live nearly 3 times the distance anyone in EU does from the server.
Even with this ping, the game is extremely playable at an end game/raid level.

If your ping is over 200, in most parts of EU, then your ISP is an issue.

my ping in wow is 30 or less, I play in EU btw, anything close to 200 is unacceptable. Why should EU players play with a disadvantage when being competitive, EU has always dominated wow world first, theres a reason non of them are in 14 is because of the server locations.
