A One Shot Show Through Mist, Set to Music

After 6 hours, ~20 trial takes, and 9 mangled full attempts, the music as ready as it can be.

The camera work could have been much better, but I was fighting the controls the entire bloody time on PS4. No amount of fiddling could save me from the jumping camera when brushing a wall or a pillar. This also led to certain parts of the run being pretty boring since I couldn't swing the camera around and risk hitting a surface of any kind. Even with all the trial runs, there's so much that can mess up the camera. The struggle threw off some parts of syncing the running to the singing, though it ended up working well enough. The run along the beach at the middle had more punch in earlier takes, but I had to settle here since other parts worked our better.

The timing of the intro, the mid (where the second whistle section is), and the end were the hardest to time as certain things had to happen those moments. I ended up using FFXIVClock.com to figure out when the entire ward would light up at sunset, thus being able to get the last zoom in and the lights at the same time from my roof! I lament that the camera was a little too low, so the lighting effect is more subtle than obvious at the 3:31 mark.

The length of filming is largely due to only shooting at sunrise or sunset to catch the gradual changes in lighting and being incredibly picky. It's nowhere near perfect, but I'm quite happy with it considering there is zero editing during the entire run. My eyes really hurt from staring so long, but I found the one shot to be more interesting and less jarring than one with a bunch of edits.

I was hoping to get the entire ward in one video, but that would be a 5 or 6 minute song and I can't imagine it'd be as interesting for that amount of time. I probably covered only 60% of Mist, and that goes to show how intricate the housing spaces are with small paths and stairways.

I'm considering a video for the Lavender Beds and the Goblet, and I'm listening for the right song(s) first.
