They're kind of lame the way they are now. There isn't a single important hunt that isn't melted faster than you can reach them on the map. There's no real danger to fighting them either. Levequests on the other hand are more controlled, and can only be engaged by those in your party, so they could be balanced better. Difficulty can be tuned to 4 / 8-player parties. Battlecrafts in this sense handle alot more like FFXII's Clan Marks, but it's a pity the concept is completely dropped after reaching lv50.
Here's what i'm thinking:
So, you go to the hunt board and get your mark. You run around the map, like usual, searching for the hunt. Instead of appearing on the map, it leaves a clue or something, hinting you to start the hunt. You get your desired party together, and the one with the mark starts the hunt (similar to a leve). You now hunt for the enemy in the designated area, until you find it and engage. Everyone can see the battle going on, but only those who started the fight can participate. More than one can happen at once, since they don't spawn in a 100% designated area, the same way multiple people can be doing the same battlecraft in the same area.
I just think this would be more interesting, since Hunts don't feel like hunts so much as zerg rushing some completely helpless mob, after someone shouts to you its location, and you pray you can even get a hit in before it dies.
