So working your butt off getting COP done and when you get that ring and fight the final boss it was not rewarding? because doing that was the most rewarding thing or when i got my black belt of 14days of work even tho i had to stay up pretty late and wake up 4am for HNM lol.If you weren't already aware, SE is trying to cater to a variety of players, which in itself is a near impossible task.
You cannot please casuals and hard core players in the same game at the same time.
About XI, yeah it was a good game, but my biggest problem is I felt it didn't really reward the player for their effort. Risk vs reward always seem to sway more to the risk side.

Calling this FFXI-2 is about the same as calling FF4 FF3-2.
Or FF13 FF7-2.
They share similarities, all FF games do.
I think it needs to "draw" certains things that worked in XI but not the entire game IE LINKSHELL ADMIN TOOLS AND /LSMES, PLAYER HOUSING, MAIL SYSTEM. Where is this stuff at???? should have been in the game before release...I'm making this thread because I'm sick of seeing ppl whine and moan every time someone mentions anything about XI. Regardless of how oblivious everyone is, or how much they try to deny it, this game is XI-2. To quote some random hick: "If it looks like a duck, walks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, then it must be a g*@ damn duck." Just because ppl mention XI, and try to use it as a template to build off of doesn't mean they want an exact clone w/ upgraded graphics and a new story. So, stop being so dismissive every time these people make brilliant suggestions. If you all noticed, the game isn't doing that well right now, so ppl don't like it very much. SE isn't even charging...what's that tell you?
Wanna know something else? The majority of the changes that have been made were inspired by the FFXI crew, and Yoshi-P's genius. So, stop being close-minded, and acknowledge the obvious fact: XI was great; XIV can be better, but it needs to draw off of XI in order to do so.

i like the way the OP said XI-2 and the first this everyone reads is the need to do everything in a pt. now needing to work togeter alot more isn't such a bad thing infact i would go as far as to call t a good thing for a mmo, but it can be taken to a extream like in XI. if everything can be solo there you'll find it much harder to establish a strong comunity, on the flip side though if you have to do everyting as a pt it's hard to be a casusal player who logs on for a a few hours a day and doesn't have the time to spent a hour+ looking for pt, here is the hoping the new content finds the happy medium.
i started playing a back at the start of the beta and back there there we very few infulances from XI and as i play today i can see alot more creeping in. i dont think this is a bad thing either there is lots in XI that works well and it should influance the way XIV content is constructed but not control it.
