Its not a good idea to add a challenging solo boss fight into a job quest... because you need to progress through job missions in order to obtain a specific skill.
It'd be better to implement an external solo missions which are maybe as hard as Coil was for a group. And where you can receive special items. dunno

i literally never said anything about soling a primal O.o. what i said was it's lame that they have the primals SAY "bring your friend's". i mean as the other dude said they don't include people in cutscenes, they don't mention them afterwards so why bring them up before? Also, yeah. Good idea, solo a primal. Get real man. It would just rip you off and laugh for the day. You may be a warrior of light, but in the end you're just a mere human resisting the tempering. You're not magically better than any other people around you. sorry to burst your bubble.
having a one or two 1v1 fights even if they aren't serious(which would be disappointing but again at least it would be something) challenging fights would not make or break an mmpo. it would not make the player base smaller for an mmo. the one thing it would do is show people that they're trying new things for this game.

all of these fights were NOT hard. They were just hard enough to kill you if you didn't have a clue about your job, and never took the time to gear up a bit (either by crafting, GC or a few more AV runs). Also pre-buff WAR didn't help people to clear it as it was way harder to survive big hits if you weren't able to dodge. But it was in no way hard if you knew how to play. Its not a good idea to add a challenging solo boss fight into a job quest... because you need to progress through job missions in order to obtain a specific skill.

You want an example of a difficult quest that I don't miss at all ? Beta phase 3 lv15 gladiator quest. It has been nerfed hard, and even now it's a difficult quest because the NPC still dies really fast. It was just hell back then, nearly impossible to do.
they did that in FFxi and may do that one day here, or may not.i literally never said anything about soling a primal O.o. what i said was it's lame that they have the primals SAY "bring your friend's". i mean as the other dude said they don't include people in cutscenes, they don't mention them afterwards so why bring them up before?

Also, as for primals (mine was just an example), you're not alone in the CS except for the story ones, maybe. Everytime in Coil and dungeons your group is here. And iirc, the 7 others are here for the ramuh fight. They're here in the praetorium and Castrum meridianum as well.
But for anything we have in game here besides class/job quests, nothing fits a 1v1 fight. (well, we do a 1v2 at some point in the story though). Primals are at a totally different level, we gather a team to explore the dungeons, Coil specifically says that we have to gather the most capable of our friends, etc...
Maybe they'll lock a future level cap behind a "learn your job" fight as they did in FFxi. But until then, FFxiv doesn't fit 1v1 fights.
I was talking about the fights you quoted in my post. FFxi's fights were hard, FFxiv's 1.0 fights were somehow hard too if I can trust those who played it.Well Avatar Solo Prime battles could be hard.. yes..
Especially when the primes casted randomly their "Astral Flow" attack.. which instantly killed your pet and almost yourself. And only due to a specific tactic with yagudo drink etc.. it was "handleable" .. without it was quiet a long fight.. seems like you havent had experiences with it much.
and it was mostly only doable on the weakness days of these primes.. (e.g. fire day you fought shiva etc.)
when you wiped 2-3 times on her you had to wait one ingame week for it.. otherwise her attacks have been too hard
sometimes i miss some kind of these details and complexity in FF14.. the world seemed real because of details like that.
I wouldn't mind more difficulty, but if we are to be honest, nowadays playerbase can't really handle it. The progression curve would have to be way easier than what it was 10 years ago.

I will like a lot the idea to make into progression quests, challenges that will be easy overcome if you learnt how to properly use the shiny new skill you got, and very hard if not.
Lost ark had a 1v1 arc in the story and I really liked it, made you feel real powerful. I'm only at heavensward right now and hope ffxiv do something similar.![]()
Would be nice to see something along the lines of the duels in Bozja except without the once-an-hour low chance of being picked.

Before the rework off the fight...the double shield boy was a joke of a fight. Now it on par with the Xenos fight. I agree. More Duels.
