soo are the dragons really the enemy?

in heavensward. if im right and the dragon mount we will get is a larger version of midgardsormer's little avatar, i cant see it making much sense for us to ride the wyrm lord into battle against the wyrms.
thoughts? speculations? im not really a lore know-it-all so maybe im missing something, and if i am please let me know~

Read over the lore again in the game; use the unending journey book at an inn to read the tl;dr versions of the latest quests. There's been hints here and there that the dragons may not be pure villains as the people of Ishgard make them out to be. Square isn't going to reveal everything and we still got one more major patch for the story before 3.0 hits.

We will have both humanoid and dragon enemies. As if the Ascian being with the Ishgardian bishop wasn't enough clue already.

There's more to the story then meets they dragon's eye. If you get to the end of the 2.5 story with the dungeon for Duty roulette extreme you will notice that neither side seems to have a full grasp of what's going on. There's a raise to arms, people running around in confusion and partially conflicting stories. Without delving too deep into the story and actually having an interest in the story you'll notice the story is playing a big game for the climax that will be the next expansion. This will be very interesting come the expansion, especially if we are given the chance to take sides like you do with the GC. Will you stand with Ishgard? Or will the roars of the dragon swoon you to their side? Find out in FFXIV ARR: Heavansward!

Here is a lore hint that Ishgard may be a Antagonist of FF14Heavensward and the Dragons that are loyal to Midgardsormr may be our allies against the Ascians.

Midgardsormr says the Dragons are attacking Ishgard because...

In English version, because of the sins of their ancestors.

In japanese version, because Ishgard is commiting the same sin again their ancestors commited long ago.

If you can guess what that "Sin" is then you'll understand a bit more.

Midgardsormr also hints he was the keeper of the Lake because of a relationship (I'm talking Friend Zone level) with Hydaelyn (most likely to serve as a guardian to the Seal that imprisoned the Primals before it was broken)

Back in 2.2, it is revealed that the Holy See of Ishgard may be working with the Ascians.

Midgardsormr minion form also resembles the future Dragon Flying Mount we will obtain for completing 3.0 Main Scenario.

Actually we may lose our allies in 2.5 Part 2 due to the Trailer and 2.5 events strongly hinting that something bad will happen to the City-State Leaders, Minfilia, the Scions, and our Ishgard Allies during the the Ul'dah part of 2.5 Part 2. Leaving the WoL with only him or herself until 3.0 when the WoL meet the Scions again and rescue the City-State Leaders, Minfilia, and our Ishgard Allies.

But this is just speculation since the 2.5 trailer and 2.5 Part 1 MS strongly forshadow more tragedy and betrayal for 2.5 Part 2.

I recall when we first head up to Coerthas and finish the quest line involving the imposter he makes the claim that basically sums up to something like "You only kill my kind because we decided not to follow your god." or something to that effect.
