Cloud backup/share for character setting, system setting, and macros

I own this game for PS4 and PC, and I have multiple alts. It'll be nice if the HUD layout has an option to be shared between characters. And character settings, system settings, and macros can be shared between multiple PC and cross platform.

Long story short, have the above account based, so doesn't matter who's computer/PS4 we access they layout and controls are the same.

While I do think that would be nice, who's to stop someone who managed to get into your account, and screwing up everything you worked hard to place? Plus there are some people who play on both console and computer, but don't use a controller on both

I'm going to ignore the first part of your statement, because there's just so many holes I can poke through. And answer the second and more relevant statement, MAKE THIS AN OPTION UNDER THE LAUNCHER SECTION, like back up and restore which is already there.

The only difference now is make it cloud based so something happens to your com like what happened to a FC mate, your info is backed up, or if you go cross platform. Smartphones/computers are already using it, why can't this game? I mean I can take my Google account, buy a new Android phone, punch in my account login/password and my contacts/purchased apps will be available on the new phone. We've already got SE accounts.

Then can I bother you to elaborate? This is the 'feedback and suggestion forum', which I would assume players would do so without sounding a bit like they're wasting their time when replying to someone else.

We already know that many people in the past have had their accounts 'hacked into' and their characters have been deleted so the RMTs could use them to harass other players, who's to say that others wouldn't be able to do the same there? Or even someone being an arse just to mess with someone they don't like?

Let me put it this way so you are satisfied. There are already games out there doing this, and it's working out very well.

Your very existence on this forum contradicts your statement because you are vulnerable to ID theft, even if you have Token/Token App, what's to stop your mom, siblings, GF/BF/Married partner, or cat, dog, cockroaches from picking up that token, log on to your account, and sabotage your stuff? What you are describing as a concern, is like your city wants to build you a better cross city transportation, and you are saying no to it because it can potentially run someone over.

I know this has been addressed by SE in the past and they declined to make this change because the idea was to store things like macro and hot bar as well as other character settings on the server a character is on. This existed in FFXI and no one ever had a security issue. The problem with the past idea was storing this info on the servers we play on would cause even more memory issues for the servers. The cloud idea is good though as this is becoming a very prevalent for many things and would be separate from the servers we play on. They could also have a default storage amount and charge for additional storage. I hate the thought of having to set up everything all over again if and when I decide to get a PS4. Heck I have cloud support to save my gaming mouse settings to the cloud so if I plug my mouse into another computer my settings are there. It would take time for SE to set this up if they chose to do so.

You know between PC its not so bad, because you can transfer files. PS4 is not so good, mainly because of sony's making file access such a pain in the ass.

If SE can somehow make the PS4 client able to read and transfer the FFXIVconf.fea file from a flash drive that'll be good enough for me.

In FFXI since you were storing all settings, including macros on a server I could switch between my pc, xbox 360 or ps2 and have everything the same. Currently I only have one PC but plan on getting a ps4 as back up if my pc went down and had to replace it. Having a cloud system for storing our settings would be great. Not sure if SE would look at doing this. Depends on their budget.
