False. The concept remains the same -- Non-regulars would consistently lose vs regulars therefore those who lose consistently would eventually ragequit. 30s and 40s cap doesn't change anything. Our group in particular has played over 2000 games in 30/40 alone and we know many others that have as well. 30/40s is not a viable solution and what with all the endgame and new PVP gear, there's no way 30/40s will stand a chance in existing again. Apart from the whining about "oh, but I don't get to use my PVP gear," which was prevalent right from the release of new gear, and the "well now I don't have all of my abilities, you would be dead otherwise," the concept of getting rekt remains the same.
We're not having an argument for what's killing Wolves' Den because it's a mentality thing and one that's not too hard to comprehend: When someone waits in a queue longer than 10 minutes to get dominated in a 1 minute match, over and over again, he or she will ragequit and in turn, be more reluctant to give future matches a chance, seeing at least -something- as unfair or unbalanced.
We have held premade vs premade events for the more experienced groups that are at an equal, or close to equal level. These events were great, however many of our key players have left the game so we are essentially trying to restart what we did in the past and presently, we have been doing events where all eight participants solo queue to randomize teams. We have several newcomers that are serious about learning and in those circumstances, we split up our teams in terms of player experience.
Let me clarify that we're not trying to bring back Wolves' Den for all of the FFXIV community, because we already know that attempts to sway people would be unfruitful. We're holding these events rather, for the people who are interested in playing at a more casual level where setting up things and planning ahead of time to attend these events require commitment, and not everyone is willing to "go the extra mile" to make something work. It's understandable, some people want to play Wolves' Den casually, but our events are for the ones who are at least a little more enthusiastic in seeing through the efforts of reviving Wolves' Den in a small community.
