nahhhI have to agree. Unique poses gives flavor. Take a look at FFXI or WoW for example. Each race/sex has its own distinct feel, its own distinct flavor, and a major reason for this is because of how unique each of their combat animations and emotes are. There should be more differences between race, sex, and class animations.
my character isn't cute enough naked enough and doesn't have a big enough axe to rock their battle cpose =|
male miqote and hyur midlander have the same battle cpose though. i'd like that. very macho.

You can actually give your Dragoon a sex change if you want the pose so bad and don't want to start a new character.

They are unique because they are exclusive. Since almost everyone who plays FFXIV is either cat F or hume M, the scant remaining race/sex combos are that much more unique because they are that much more exclusive to the game world.
Frankly, if you envy another character's emotes or posture, I think the system is working as intended.
This is only true if picking one option denies you another option. This is the basic idea of exclusiveness.
Look at it from another perspective using FF14 jobs. Nobody is locked out from choosing a WHM at any time, however Cure II is unique to the job. What if we started demanding that Cure II be made available to any job? Cure II would not longer be a unique, job defining skill, would it?
I think gender and race should be handled under a similar concept. You are free to choose whatever you want, but that choice should be a commitment to particular tastes a styles just as Job choices are.

Exclusivity =/= Uniqueness
To try and give an example, you have 3 choices of something A, B, C. Each of those three choices has two sub choices. A,1,2 ; B,3,4 ; C,5,6. With that system you have only 6 combinations to choose from.
Now with those same three choices but they can all chose from the six sub choices, you have 18 combinations to chose from.
You tell me what gives more uniqueness.
That doesn't apply to the discussion at hand. The point of choices in jobs is to pick what will make you the most effective in the roll you want to fill.Look at it from another perspective using FF14 jobs. Nobody is locked out from choosing a WHM at any time, however Cure II is unique to the job. What if we started demanding that Cure II be made available to any job? Cure II would not longer be a unique, job defining skill, would it?

The battle poses do a great job of expressing each character's personality through their job. I'm bewildered as to why said personality expression also has to be locked to the character's gender, especially with how many effeminate men and giant powerful women exist in game lore.
I mean, you know...that entire race of women who are exclusively gigantic, muscular, and powerful. That entire race of polyamorous, vaguely-feminine supermodel men with cat ears who are largely valued by their tribes as marital currency and breeding stock. (Though...in very different ways depending on whether we're talking about Keepers or Seekers.)

video games are bad

I think that's an absolutely ridiculous way to look at it.
Because I have boobs, I can't do the iconic DRG pose? I can understand some of the locked special poses based on race, they are mannerisms that a Roe, Miqote, Hyur etc etc would have learned amongst their people.
My training and story while leveling my LNC/DRG was the same as a males story! So why is it that my stance cannot be the same?
My character is obviously a Femme Roe, No males look or move like her she is obviously a Femme Roe, everything about her says Femme Roe and I don't need more pose locks to make that obvious.
I mean I GUESS if you play Lalafell its not so easy to be able to tell but, my character stands out as she is.
I don't want to be a male Roe, I don't want to be a male Elezen, I don't want to be a male Hyur, I don't want to be a male Lalafell and I don't want to be a male Miqot'e~
I'm not asking for my Dragoon to stand like a Paladin, I'm asking for my Dragoon to be able to stand like a Dragoon.
I'm not asking for my Femme Roe to be able to move like an octopus.
I'm asking for SE to allow me the option to give her individuality.
If you think that locking poses behind gender for uniqueness will give you individuality, you're sorely mistaken! You are the same as anyone else that chose that same race and gender -shrug-

Who says they are darling little angels. It's the smile of ultimate power of who lives and dies that is coming through that smile. It's positively evil.
But I agree emotes, poses, hair and gear should for the most part not be gender/race locked. The more choice people have the more interesting they become. Another thing I'd like to see si being able to set a different idle pose for each job. While I love the whm and bard and war ones. I dislike the ninja one - I prefer the low to the ground ready to pounce more. But it seems the game stores the info together for all as same.
