Crystal/Shard Faming ?'s.

Okay, so I just started on Botanay. I\\'m running around trying to farm shards/crystals. As of RIGHT NOW, I\\'m level 9. Yielding only 1 crystal per swing sucks. I know as I level I unlock stuff that yields more per swing, but is there anywhere I can farm that will get me more than one per swing at my level?

nope there isn't, when your level raises you will get some skills that increase yield for one node only as you have the gp to use.

also some nodes later will yield more than 1 per swing naturally but they are rare.

unfortunately farming shards crystals and clusters is never quick.

The only way to get more shards/crystals without any high level DoL abilities is to kill low level elementals (1-15+ something) for shards and high level elementals (20+~) for crystals as DoW or DoM classes. One can drop up to 5 shards.

Find shard farming blm bots and steal their mob. I did this a few times and amassed over 100s of shards by just using aero 1 as a 50 whm on level 3 wind sprite.

There are level 30 nodes that grant "Yield +1". You get two crystals per swing instead of one. You need to have sufficiently high elemental resistance stats to get the double yield, though. Level 26 is the earliest you can mind those nodes, but I don't think you have sufficient resistance at that level unless you meld some elemental materia to your gear.

Also, only one node in the group of four will HAVE Yield +1, so it's not THAT huge an improvement. Four crystals every three nodes, rather than four crystals every four nodes.

I would recommend not using botany for low level shards as it doesn't offer much in the way of experience. Get the logs and use carpenter to make lumber to get gil. If you don't have a Carpenter then just sell the logs.
