Using the Controller and Rotating Your Character

I am having a really big issue that nobody else in the game seems to be able to sympathize with me on. Hopefully someone can help!

So, with a mouse and keyboard, it is easy to rotate my character using the right mouse button, then dragging the mouse. This rotates my CHARACTER. Using the left button rotates the CAMERA. This makes it very easy, being a DPS, to follow enemies running around me without losing line of sight.

However, with a controller, I cannot for the life of me figure out to achieve what I want. I know that with Standard Type controls, the right stick rotates my character. Great! However, I down without walking BACKWARDS, which is slow.

Legacy Type controls fix my walking-down problem, but I can no longer rotate my character. When someone walks behind me in the middle of one of my spells, I either have to cancel the spell, turn around, and recast, or wait until it interrupts and try again. Bologna, I say!

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks!

    TL;DR

Using a controller in Legacy Type controls, I want to know how to rotate my CHARACTER, not the camera.

I dont know what youre asking here.

I use gamepad, and what youre trying to describe seems like youre trying to melee an enemy as a black mage?

On gamepad, and i assume keyboard and mouse also when you select an enemy and then choose to attack it your character by default will face the enemy (unless of course you have this function turned off in which case turn it back on.)

Also if youre having an issue where enemies are getting behind you as a black mage youre standing too close to the enemy, stand a bit further back and never stand behind the tank. Black mages have a quite extensive range so try to get used to standing further?

OP what you need is a /facetarget macro and mash it as your target moves away from your fov.

Also they recently added an option to assign macros to analog push ins. You can use that for the macro if youre having trouble finding a slot for it.

Very much this. Face target macro is pretty much a must.

People need to remember that a healer's job isn't to heal HP
but rather to prevent HP from reaching 0
