    Crafting with Improvise

Has anyone else tried using the crafting ability "Improvise" and seen some odd results?

Its descriptive text reads: "Temporarily reduces the affects of element destabilization. Most effective on parts."

I have used it 20 times now (taking notes on its results, and have had it give the desired results 3 times out of 20. The other 17 times, the destabilized element blew up in my face on the first try, with the majority of my attempts occurring on a steady white color. I'm not exaggerating... and that doesn't sound like something that can happen by chance. By comparison, I often craft without using any ability when the element has destabilized, and have had much, much higher success rates.

Is this just bad luck? Or has anyone else seen this? I'm about to remove the ability and never try it again.

Its just speculation given that i havent used the ability myself. However id say that improvise doesnt reduce the chances of the element going chaotic, but rather reduces its actual effects.
Unstable elements either reduce progressor quality gained or increases dura lost on a succesful or failed synth.
Which one of those 3 it is that is reduced or increased depends on the type of element.

Now thats where the speculation comes in: Improvise reduces the effects that an unstable element has on reducing progress/quality or increasing dura loss.

Nice theory... it's what I originally thought, too. But it's hard to test that if the chaotic elements blow up on the very first synth after using it.

I used it for a small while before I decided it wasn't for me. The effects I noticed were things like more quality gained on fire unstable successes, and less dura loss on a wind unstable failure. The elements that affect success don't really seem to be changed, because as OP mentioned I still got a lot of failed synths/chaotics (which oddly enough would be the reason I would use it if it worked).

The only decent technique I even try is to guess which element will go unstable (which is hard and often random) and use the specific ele resist skill, and wait it out.

Most of the time, I just hope it doesn't go unstable or at the very least chaotic, so I think there are better ways to spend the points.
