It's poor strategy to ultimately "ignore what the other teams are doing," and I don't think you can accurately plan strategy if you ignore them, so that argument holds as much water as a cup with a giant hole in the bottom.

Second, out of the many matches I play and have tallied, Adders come out in top majority of them, while Mael and Flames win occasionally but mostly scramble for second. I'm not blaming anything on the Maelstrom, but such a feeble strategy ultimately proves a hindrance to both teams. You overrate Maelstrom's abilities and underrate the Flames, from what I've seen.
