    Connection error 90002 because of Windows 8.1 system time deviation issue?

    Greetings everyone,

    like others I, too, have connection issues (error 90002). One thing I noticed is that whenever the disconnect happened there was a system log entry as the very same time in the Windows Event Log where it says that the kernel synchronised its time. So it seems, that whenever Windows updates it's system time to be in sync with either the BIOS (hardwore) clock or the internet time my client will disconnect. All of my recent disconnects had a corresponding time sync log entry, too. Maybe the reason is that the time difference in those sync cases is rather huge, like 2 minutes.

    Now, I cannot say why Windows's time deviates so quickly. Maybe it's because it's an old mainboard.

    I guess the FFXIV client/server gets irritated by the sudden time change somehow and results in a disconnect. Maybe this is some kind of a fraud protection.

    Maybe others, who also have the 90002 problem, can check their system logs, too?

    UPDATE!

    After messing around with Windows quite a bit I finally found a workaround. This is not a permanent solution but at least my client now has a stable connection. No more disconnects!

    What I did was:

    * run CMD as administrator
    * type: net stop w32time
    * type: w32tm /unregister

    This will disable clock sync comply but at least the FFXIV client isn't freaking out anymore.

    Cheers,
    Silvan
