But it's still not ideal as, yes, it blocks *everyone*.
/busy also has the disadvantage of your status being "busy" when you're really not busy.
If they implemented an identical status called "blocking RMT tells", then it wouldn't confuse my friends who are trying to guess if I'm actually busy, or just trying to avoid the spam.

I also remember another function they had in Final Fantasy 11, where you change your status to "Offline" or in this case "Invisible" but still keep in contact with people. This way RMT couldn't register your character was online, so therefore they left you alone, but you were still able to communicate with friends.

It would also clean up a lot of the "Ninja Tells" where you're trying to send a tell to someone and RMT just goes, "HEY LET ME TELL YOU ABOUT US!" with a giant wall of their crap, I hit enter to respond to the person who I was politely talking to only to end up having it go to RMT instead
The abuse of the "Report RMT" function would assume that the process of punishing people who were reported are done automatically, and/or it takes very few reports to send up a flag.

It can't be abused if someone is still manually banning accounts for RMT after looking into the matter, and an account probably wouldn't even be considered unless it has several reports for RMT.

This would be fantastic, as well as a right click > report option.

The best way to deal with them. Ban the gil buyers. No market no rmt.

Gil buyers are more likely to buy something at a high price than someone who legitimately earn their gil. This causes extreme imbalance on activities that require a substantial amount of gil.

I digress. a good share of those website spam bots are directing players to sites with malicious software that dl onto your pc without you knowing and compromising your account.
