time limit in a dungeon is an old idea and should be removed.
let people spend as mush time as they like in a dungeon with there friends without worrying about time run out.

I agree that it's not really fair to make the GLA and ARC weapons be exclusive to the speed run chest. If they instead just made each chest have an equal chance at dropping any of the weapons it would be much better. The time chest could just be a compelling achievement that only the really skilled can achieve and it could be just like any other chest and have a chance to drop any weapon. (In this example)

Speaking of weapons, are the bow and sword even that good compared to HQs? I can't check ATM but most of the weapons I've seen are pretty lackluster if you already have an HQ.

this is the order for most of the gears.
+3 > +2 = dungeons drop > +1
Depending on what you value.. Accuracy/Attack/Crit/Parry.. many of the +2 crafted weapons are better. If you avg the stats The Dungeon Weapons mostly come out to about a HQ+1.5
Personally Id rather craft or buy +2 or +3 weapons. I dont need to save my Gil, Im not using it for anything else.
Easier with arc and mages? probably... but its not required.

The current situation of dungeons right now are not particularly in my favor. As it is right now, if you are not an Archer, Mage, or Tank, you are not welcomed in a speed run. Which is unfortunate, and is kind of going back to one of the qualities of FFXI I could not stand. "We want these classes/subs only". I wish I could see a PUP come in and help deal damage to HNM's, or a COR focus on DPS while buffing time to time (thinking 2008-2009 FFXI BTW), but if you were invited, you had one set role, no opportunity to make yourself unique, which turned FFXI end game into one gigantic cookie cutter based system. While I loved FFXI, I did not like this, luckily my main was a SAM. >_>
Anyways, on FFXIV. I don't believe this current set up is going to last. As pointed out in 1.19 notes, damage algorithms are going to change dramatically. How it will change? Who knows. I am willing to bet however it will help make melee DPS a necessity compared to now. I always believe that ranged attackers and mages should have an advantage in DPS "slightly", since both have limitations (don't know if I would call Archers having that much limitations), and mages have to balance their MP pool.
However, if you are to make melee useful in fights, you have to give them a certain advantage that Archers and Mages cannot give. How exactly would we go about this? Can't be sure, that is why I let the developers do the thinking. I do not want FFXIV's future to be a cookie cutter based job system like FFXI was. I want to determine inviting someone simply by their skill and how well equipped they are, not by the class they are. I don't ever want to say "Eww a insert class here.", I want to say "Welcome aboard!".
While balancing in other MMO's are still quite a challenge. Most I have played, invited you based on how well geared you were, despite if you were a class that was kind of gimped (thinking Ret.Pally in early Cataclysm, glad they fixed that kinda). I don't want the dev's repeating the same mistakes of the past.
As for the dungeons, I understand the challenge in getting the lv.5 treasure, which is great, but I believe the best way for this is probably to make enemies more forgiving in the AoE department, where healers don't have to heal the melee DPS as much as they do now.
So in case dev's are reading this, I ask that you please make a game where all classes and jobs are wanted and needed. Make events that cater to everyone, not just Archers and mages, don't give people a reason to find an exploit in the system like I am seeing now. When you look at an event you made, please make sure that the best type of party to engage it is a diverse party. Give those type of parties an opportunity to perform the speed run as well as a Archer/Mage setup. Don't make someone feel like that they have to do things "this way" to be a productive member of the group. Thanks!![]()

Dear everyone complaining about archer and mage only;
Go level archer or mage.
Alternatively, make the group yourself and take whoever the hell you want.
You're welcome.
