After reading all of what is in the Japanese version versus the English version, I am terribly disappointed to only know English.

I hope the English version clarifies this much more in Patch 2.55.

The in-game journal spells it out pretty clearly if anybody missed the nuance in his words. On occasion it helps clear up a little ambiguity.

...I'd take that as a compliment, and I guess Moose would do too. :-)

But yes, just look up the journal and it does explain things out better.
Even if you don't know Japanese, you might have fun watching the cutscenes with the original voice work... speaking of another game/narrative I'm a lore nerd for, Cid is Archer's Daddy Dearest, just to name one (I'm just waiting for someone in the dev team to pull a random Unlimited Blade Works or Time Alter joke down the road).

Also, can we have Jouji Nakata performing as one of the antagonists? REJOICE.

Hate to siderail the convo but I was wondering in the grand scheme of the story is the term "King" much more then just a title? Gaius after seeing us defeat ultima questions our purpose when we have as much power as a "King". But specifically a King is a ruler but not particularly any more special then anyone else in the grand scheme as they are replaceable. He knows that as well him being in an empire where feats of not even your own merit and blood line is enough to place the crown above your head. So with Midgar using the same term to describe himself could it be that the "warrior of light" be more special then we have noticed before or is it just a catch all term for those with unnatural power.

The reason this caught my attention is because of the idea of King Arthur because excalibur while a mighty weapon also is a prophecy "as anyone who welds this sword can not die in battle" so the fated removal even though of his own accord lead to his death. Could the term "King" be set to a same tale.

I might just be reading into it to much but with Midgar in his reviving state still uses the term even though he is aware of the world around him and one of his sons are leading the dragons. It seems to point to much more then a temporary position or one granted to you by heritage.

Does anyone know for certain if it was midgardsomr that "roared" and caused the dragon star to burn brighter? It seems almost too convenient, which is leading me to question who or what is behind the ominous star change. Could it have been bahamut in all his rage and contempt of captivity?

It was the wyrmking of Dravania that roared, and woke up Midgardsormr.

Midgardsormr says it's one of his kids, and then we're told it's one of the Great Wyrms (Wyrm Kings) of Eorzea, so we know from that that his child is a wyrm king and a great wyrm, and is the one who called the attack on Ishgard. It's also likely, given the lre of Nidhogg, that it's Nidhogg who is the one leading the attack, and therefor Nidhogg would be the child of Midgardsormr.

I agree that Nidhogg is likely a child of Midgardsormr, but the quest line said that two kings among wyrms were present in Eorzea, at the moment. Nidhogg awoke to lead a charge on Ishgard but twenty years ago, and he usually slumbers for centuries at a time. Moreover, the dragon seen in the trailer has both of his eyes. I'm not so sure Nidhogg is leading this new assault just yet.
