It's possible that her protecting of the one with the Blessing of Light has weakened her too much to reach out to any one with the Echo.
Reading your compilation gives me a thought: what if, by stripping us of Hydaelyn's Blessing, he's helping her to recover? She's been growing weaker and weaker throughout the main scenario, and it's not too much of a leap to assume that she's been depleting what little power she has left defending both the Warrior of Light and the Scions from the Ascians. Midgardsormr admits that Hydaelyn was the one who gave him life and strength, so what if he's returning the favor? To me, at least, his dialogue can be interpreted as "Hydaelyn gave me life, and She now dies by helping you. I shall shoulder Her burden, but I will not coddle you as She has. Prove to me that you are worthy of Her Blessing."
