So, why can't we trade damaged items?

For what reason are we unable to trade damaged weapons/armor? This is a major inconvenience in many situations that I'm sure many of my fellow players can attest to. I do understand that it is most likely a way to combat the sale of damaged gear, but in all honesty, is that really such a large issue? Why not enable the trading of damaged items but require that gear is at 100% before putting it in a bazaar? Or implement an additional tax that is incurred when a damaged item is sold? That aside, is it really a problem to be sold damaged gear? There is no item in this game that cannot be repaired with ease, and even if you can't repair it yourself it will cost you less than 10k for someone else to repair it. For me, a simple notification indicating that the gear you are about to buy is damaged would be enough.

If there are any other reasons that this system is in place that I simply can't think of, so be it. But at this very moment, no matter how much thought I put into it, being unable to trade damaged items seems pointless to me.

or make it so MW let you sell damaged gear, and AH requires 100% durability.

Because it would be a breach of the Ul'dah Syndicate's Trade Practices Act.

I share the displeasure, expressed by the OP, that this inconvenient and rather useless restriction generates.

    Please, remove the restriction.

Agreed. Many times I have a piece of gear I can't repair, sometimes as high as 99% but no lower than 75% that I want to pass to a friend and simply CAN'T. Instead I end up having waste time trying to find someone who can be arsed to repair a rank 10 or 20 item.

I agree with this post except for SELLING damaged gear. If I buy it I'd like it sparkly and clean =). Otherwise yeah it sucks not to be able to trade friends gear if it's 99% lol....

    Server Issues.

J/K. But I often wondered this myself, with as cheap as repairs are (1-5k) I wouldn't mind buying damaged gear (they could even add a popup: "WARNING: You are about to buy an item that is not in mint condition!") and having to repair it. I'ma have to repair it anyway and if the item is like 250k... 500k... 1mil+, does that extra 5k to repair it really matter?

Because most people would sell it to the full price instead to reduced price.
It sound not right to sell a 50% damaged to the same price as a 100% repaired gear.

It seems like something that would be easy to implement and save me a bunch of equipment changes. +1

    concerning selling stuff that's damaged/worn,

The only real reason I can understand not letting you sell equipment unless it's 100% is to discourage resale. Most games do this on a "bind on equip" approach. It's basically an artificial way of creating demand, and is a good thing for crafters. I'd personally prefer a bind on equip system, but hopefully materia will also discourage people from reselling the equipment.

As for not being allowed to trade equipment that's not 100%...I can think of no conceivable reason for this decision. Just like several other things in this game.

Yes I do have a My Little Pony sig because I'm not a complete loser who lives in his own little world, proclaiming something is stupid because I say so.
