    Question for FC leaders

Hey guys just have a quick question that I would like to put to fellow FC leaders on Zodiark:

Do you guys actively help your new players?

I’m asking this because over the past few months I have been asked for help by loads of newer players. These players are usually stuck at lower content and members of the bigger FCs on our server.

Today I was randomly invited to a party, when I questioned this person why he told me he needed help with Haukke run. It turned out it he needed regular mode not hard. I checked his info and see he is in an FC with 20/145 players online. Now I appreciate that his FC might not have a tank or healer or could be low level but I doubt that’s the case especially with the FC leader is lvl 50 Glad.

Everyone who has seem my FC post will know I like to help new players out, that’s why I made my FC in the first place and normally I would be first person to help this guy but I am slowly getting annoyed. What’s the point of having that many members if you cannot even run a quick Haukke manor for your members?

I took matters in to my own hand a message the FC leader who says he has not asked for help. I find that laughable as FC leader I always ask my new players how they are getting on and they know to ask me if they need my help. It seems like FCs are becoming about having high member numbers but little interaction.

Thoughts? Has anyone else had this?

    Hi,
I have been seeing this happen for a while now, I help run my FC and we try to help the new/lower level members through as much as possible. Just seems to me that they spam invites to new players to boost their numbers.

I have only started playing since the beginning of Jan. And when the time came to choose an FC, and I saw the ads, I randomly joined one. I really lucked out because the FC made things so much more fun for me. They are all so nice and helpful, and explained my role as a dps in detail so that I'd be more a help than a hindrance in dungeons.

So I am glad that there are people like you around. And I'm sure you know just how much all those new members of yours appreciate your help. Keep up the good work, and maybe other FC's would decide to help like you.

Yeah I figured that’s what people have been doing. I really worry for some of the new players of this game when they end up in an FC like that. How will people learn to play if they end up lost in a sea of statistic members? I fear some of them may quit before even getting far.

Thanks and I’m glad you lucked out and got in a good FC. I have heard so many horror stories about people ending up in FC’s where no one could even run a quick Sastaha for them or even go along as healer in Ifrit normal mode. As I said above I really worry for some of these newer people and our server community in general.

Thanks for the replies guys it’s good to know that I am not alone with these thoughts.

Hey I am not on your server but I am a like minded leader. In our fc we have promoted people to officer positions that like to help others. Recently one of our officers was in a hint party and met a blm who was in an fc that wasn't super helpful. We invited him to join ours and were surprised he is a 50 blm and we had to teach him how to leave parties, what hunts are (we met him when he joined a hunt party) and more basic game things. There are a lot of fc's and unfortunately not all are good! I am glad so many are though.

I've seen this firsthand. I brought a few people literally to the game, and obviously bring them into the FC, only to find that when I send an invite, "this player already has an outstanding invitation to join a Free Company". Really? "No, I haven't spoken to anyone, I have no idea who they are", etc. which then requires me to explain how to reject the invitation so they can join mine! XD It's pretty shameful, I see these FCs which were formed like less than 3 or 4 weeks previously with hundreds of members, and I can pretty much guess why: company credits, and company rank.
You have members grinding their dungeons and levelling up, you're going to get a shit-ton of credits and your FC is going to rank up pretty much in a week or two. It's so stupid that this happens, yet there's pretty much nothing anyone can do about it except complain in linkshell chat to B'raht Comet.

I know that's why FCs invite people. I guess I'm just surprised that people accept these invites and actually stick around. I'm not finding it easy to get members despite my willingness to help and having good FC facilities...just makes no sense.

I recently gained a member from a bigger FC and he was surprised to find that in our small FC that we actually talk to each other and not just about FFXIV related stuff. Its amazing to see thus view from someone.

Wow Chris and B'raht replied to you Mei, I knew we werent alone on this one.

This is a growing trend on Zodiark. I see countless new players stuck at easy parts of the main scenario who can't get anyone in their 250+ man FC to help them because 'use df nub' is the response that they get; so they quit. I don't see the point of over 60 members in an FC if you can't keep track of everyone, or help them out.

    Damn shame really.

I try to help anyone who asks me for help because we were all noobs once and no-one helped me out on this server when I was stuck needing lvl 50 CRP for relic melds, despite me shouting 100+ times..... guess all Zodiark's master crafters are FR/GER.... or were offlline that day? XD. As we discussed in our FC chat Meissa, I'm at a stage where I feel like it's not my place to keep helping those who jump into the large FC's for their Large Mansion in Mist, 5% exp buff, and 5/250 online. I always help my fellow FC members when I can, and this week alone we have got one new player through relic quest, and are working on getting another through it by the end of the week. Another member of our FC is helping with extreme primals.... so I guess you have to be lucky with the people you recruit as well.

Im leader of my "great"-two members Company, the important is not the number, the important is enjoy the game, otherwise, i have a lot of friends of other companys as they help me and play with me. Isn't a company problem, is a behaviour of the people themselves.

I'm sorry if it may seem cruel or what not but this goes to a degree of babying people. I'm all for helping people with content and explaining people tips and tricks to better their gameplay and optimize to be the best they can. Yea I am for all this. I do draw a line at carrying and letting people get away with being lazy. When I started the game in open beta, it was new, different and each fight and challenge in the game builds knowledge. I don't know how the end game circle is on your server but I know I don't accept lemmings into my fc. Again, all for helping people wanting to put work into helping themselves but I draw the line and people who want easy stuff done for them.
