    I mean how about you address the concerns and stay on topic? Have you read the posts?
    I for one was looking forward to a new battle system with XIV and excited about it.
    It's only after the cracks of the Armoury/Class system surfacing and seeing all the different issues with it that i feel the need to raise the issue. I have played the most of the FF series, and not a single one of them i had an issue with nor failed in anyway as XIV did. There's obviously issues with it that SE realizes and are trying to address patch by patch.
    So really, it's time to stop making XIV some sort of Eutopia, take off those XIV rose tainted spectacles and give constructive feedback for the future of this game. I consider myself a loyal fan to SE, but people really need to get out of this white knight mentality where you're willing for SE to dump on your cupcake and gladly call it icing.

    I think there is certainly good in FFXIV and definite potential, otherwise i wouldn't be still here. However, there is alot of bad and it needs to be addressed, heck, even SE welcomes our bad feedback.

    And for the love of all that is holy, stop trolling with the "Go play XI" slogan, XI is already being copied to a good extent for the benefit and success of this game.

    Job= better skills but no cross class (best damage, healing, nuking, exclusive skills and perfect for party play)
    Class= cross class skills (perfect for soloers and parties)

    Original FFXIV Solution: Take what works, throw it out, release the game unfinished, spend 2 years overhauling it, hope for the best with the PS3 launch.

    You do realize they were hoping people moved to XIV right? They explicitly stated they didn't upgrade XI's engine and chose to go the route of a new MMO instead.

    @OP:

    It is indeed true, the current path they'll have to continually balance and tweak Class system and job system which means making this game as easy as possible because you can't have both styles of play (Solo/Group oriented) existing with perfect balance or you have to force one side to deal with the other, i.e people absolutely love leveling to cap through generic monotonous questing which means overworld grinding tends to be looked down on and so on.

    While XIV reintroduced party grinding (which is fun btw) having to balance two styles of class progression just...won't end well.

    The obvious other issue is, SE will have to carry the ongoing burden of working with 2 different systems all along keeping them perfectly balanced at all times with every new job, expansion and content added. More effort, more work, more resources, more complications, exploits, etc. As if SE needs more on it's plate in the current state of the game.
    You're absolutely right, Gennosuke. I was willing to compromise before b/c I saw the potential benefits of having classes *and jobs, but now that you mention it....it's completely unrealistic. XI was bad enough with every new addition. They completely failed when it came to establishing balance. It was pretty much SAM, WAR, MNK, NIN, RDM, BRD, WHM, BLM -virtually, every other job was sub-par, and you couldn't ever get party invites on them most of the time. If SE had trouble keeping jobs balanced, how can they be expected to balance jobs *and classes... I've said it before, and I'll say it again. Why fix what isn't broken? XI had a really great job system. Some jobs were nerfed too much, and others were over-powered, but the general template of job and sub jobs was flawless.

    If jobs are not locked to the class that unlocks them, we will have kind of like a job/sub job thing, instead it will be a job/class thing... think about it.. so basically its Role/Weapon

    examples..

    Paladin/Gladiator
    Paladin/Marauder
    Monk/Pugilist
    Monk/Lancer
    Ranger/Musketeer
    Ranger/Archer
    Bard/Conjurer
    Bard/Pugilist
    Black Mage/Conjurer
    White Mage/Conjurer
    White Mage/Thaumaturge
    Geomancer/Arcanist
    Geomancer/Marauder
    Red Mage/Conjurer
    Red Mage/Gladiator
    Corsair/Fencer
    Corsair/Musketeer

    ETC. (I didnt list all the Job/Class possibilities)

    so basically its Job the class, role then weapon.. Mix and match any Job with any Class..

    i think this will be realistically doable for SE, since this goes along the lines of what they have been devoloping..

They said later they going to add more Jobs for each Class and also be something like THM/CONJ= Red mage so you need both the class at a level range to become Red mage they said they thinking of this they may or may not do this part but the class lock per job yes they are.

    Im not saying thats what they are going to do, im saying the idea would be more realistically doable than the proposed OP suggestion and would be similar to a job/sub job system.

    I really wish they'd just copy and paste the system from FFTA. I have a feeling the current class system in FFXIV will do nothing but hold back what could be a nice thing.
