Opinions "When do you think FFXIV is Retail Worthy?"

    Hello everyone,

My first time posting my own thread. I've been reading the forums a lot, but never really reply because most of the replies either said what I wanted to say (I press the "Like" button) or answers the questions I have in mind. I hate getting into debates and/or arguments, though I love hearing them.

This post is not for arguing but more for curiosity sakes. I know alot of us are die hard fans of the FF series and even SE itself. There's tons of discussion on how FFXIV's release was a Fail, but this is not what the thread is about, there's also discussions on wants, wishes, complaints, etc... etc... well this is not the place for that either.

I just wanted to see everyones input on "When do you think FFXIV is considered RETAIL worth?" (I hope I explain that right). For Example:

To me, with all these updates and patches; from release to 1.9. I think with the addition of:

    Mailing System
Mog House (or residential area for each player, not for LS or company though that would be cool)
    LS Management (more control/options)
Reveal of new Class/Jobs Adjustments (not new jobs/class, just the new system they are talking about)
And maybe some optimization of the engine so it doesn't take TOOOO much power to run it.

Anyways, just wanted to hear others opinions. And this is not to list what you want in the game as a WISH; more quest, more jobs, more gear, more instance, etc.... But what/when is FFXIV considered RETAIL worthy?

Again, I hope this makes sense

    Thanks!

Hmm...Residential area for sure, so when we go to, say, the Lotus Gardens in Gridania there's more than just an invisible wall and an NPC chastising us for "taking a wrong turn".

    Musketeer and Arcanist classes unlocked.

Some form of "end boss" fight, a-la Shadow Lord in FFXI. Ifrit's cool, but he ain't it. We need a main villain to take down. Also some kind of closure to the story to make way for the first expansion pack.

These are just a few that come to mind. I'm sure there are other things I'd consider to be unacceptably missing from a "retail" release.

its always been retail worthy, i think the question should be when will it be worth $60.00. i payed $25.00 for it a month after launch and it was worth it.

True. I suppose one could call it "retail worthy" based on the fact that it actually runs (on most computers).

I think the better question would be, "When will it be P2P worthy?"

    i agree with syntaxlies here.

well mostly. the majour bugs the game had that was polished out fairly soon after retail should have been done prior to launch.

but yeah, another 2 or 3 patches with as much content and bug fixes as 1.19 and the things listed in the OP and it'd be ready for a relaunch i think.

although i still think the outside areas, La noscea, shroud, thanalan need more "life" to the lanscape so people dont go running outside and think "well....this is lifeless and dead" as i did first time

A good point. But, comparing to FFXI (sorry I hate comparing it cause everyone else is) an FF series should at least have the FF essential items; Chocobo being the first... which took patches after patches to get (not complaining). And as for being an MMO it's missing; A Mailing System, a decent Guild/LS Admin/Sys and Transportation.

I think if FFXIV (when it was at launch states)... if I get a Mailing System, Chocobos, and a decent LS system... I would already be happy... of course all these updates and contents being added are awesome too.

And when I said "When" (and sorry for confusion) I didn't mean dates or versions... more like With what features added to the game will make it an FF / MMO retail ready? Maybe I should revise my title... /cries.

For me, it's ready for relaunch when:

    (must have)
    1) repeatable inexhaustible content available as needed (not grinding. i'm talking about campaign battles, rifts, flash points, public quests. what have you. Needs something fun and engaging thats always their when you log in. Leves are great but are limited)
    2) LS management system
    3) player search

(things that should be done before relaunch)
    1) reworking of maps - to relaunch then hit players with a huge change like this would sent new players heads spinning
    2) refine market ward search even further to find specific items (HQs)

    (things that would be nice)
    1) Auction House
    2) Player housing
