Do people not like it when you watch cutscenes?

Did the sylph dungeon for the first time yesterday and I always watch the cutscenes for new content. There was a long one before the final boss fight, and when I finished I noticed some of my mates typing stuff like 'afk?'. Can they start the boss fight without me (technically)? Can they kick me for watching cutscenes? I don't want to make the dungeon miserable for anyone but I also want to make sure I know what's going on.

A lot of people rather skip the curtscenes than enjoy em (Even Coil Story Skipped!!! ;_; ). Which is imo totally OK as long as they dont bother you about your watching.
I personally switched from German to English client due to communication with my friends/FC and as it isnt my mother tongue Yea I take twice the time natives need for a text in a CS, but Yea I also let people watch the fricking 25 min CSs in Prae/CM if they want to. Never force anyone to skip and accept different playstyles (skipping, slower reading,...)
If you read down this Forum you even find ppl that restart a new char as they want to experience the cutscenes properly n not the "You can watch cutscenes in Inn".

Please whatever you do dont let anyone tell you watching cutscenes is wrong ^-^

I always like to watch the new cutscenes in a dugeon or raid the first run through I do as it is better to see it in context as it is happening and if I am in one with someone new on another run I don't mind waiting for them to watch them. Another way you can make sure that you are able to see them is set up a party finder and add in the description that you want to watch the cutscenes (you defintely should do that for the last few main story dungeons people rush through those fast and there are a lot of cutscenes)

Unfortunately you're correct. Most people do not like those who watch cutscenes. There are cases where parties have kicked new players for watching cutscenes, but you can report such actions to GMs.

yeah watch the cut-scenes, at least your first time thru.
Everyone else is getting a bonus for it being your first time so it's an acceptable trade.
    Enjoy the game.

Honestly the only time I tend to insist on skipping them is Castrum Meridianum and Praetorium, due to the sheer volume of long cutscenes in an already long dungeon.

If you so wish to watch them in those two dungeons, I'd say make a partyfinder group, possibly saying folks can SB there so they get more out of it.

I hate it when people tell me to skip the cutscenes... I mean, I don't know about them but I'm just a little invested in the story in this RPG; you can wait like a minute for me to see what's going on.

I tend to skip most in-dungeon cutscenes myself because for the most part they're just the little 2 sec introductory or victory pose animations and although nice, they're not necessary. There are certain instances though like Praetorium etc. that I think everyone should be allowed to watch in context and would have no problem waiting on a new player to get them. But yeah, people in DF can be impatient. Best bet just in case, might be to build a premade party of friends or FC members before your first run.

Once I got to the part of the main story(Praetorium) where you start 8 man grouping I got locked out of EVERY fight my first time because I watched all the cutscenes. Was my first time through so I figured I don't care what the others do. However, I was harassed by an idiot who wanted to rush the entire thing so he could get his tomes and move on. I tried not to let it ruin the experience but it was a damn close thing.

Plus in Praetorium and Castrum Meridianum there are cutscenes that do NOT show in the inn because they also show party members. Seriously, why people would kick someone for watching cutscenes is beyond me, let people enjoy the content, some people don't WANT to go to a book in a specific area just to see SOME scenes, when most of the scenes do NOT show up anyway. I have run every dungeon first time and never skipped cut scenes, even in DFs where most people have completed the content before. Particularly for older content like Prae and CM, missing one person to cutscenes makes no difference as most people running for tomes are way overgeared.
